I have zero experience loading 45 acp but you might get more answers by posting the question in the reloading section.

No difference in my experience. Sort before loading is my only advice.

I use both sm and lg primer brass for 45ACP and velocities are the same with identical charge. I use Tite Group.

I have found a small difference between the two but if you sort the rounds by primer size in your ammo box your sight adjustment will only happen once in that box. Not many can see the difference between the two on the target.

If there’s a difference, I haven’t found one. I just finished loading 2000 Target training and pracyptice rounds using 180 Cast SWC, 4,3 Bullseye and SPP. I keep them separate as I prefer LPP brass.

Take the small primer brass and send it to the guy who thought that was a good idea and tell him to put them where the sun does not shine! They really screw you up when one gets in with the large primer brass using a progressive press, those large primers will not fit no matter how hard you push on the handle.

I have a technique to sort thousands of rounds of brass in a few hours. Not that hard and is mandatory for progressive presses anyway. You need to inspect for at least 3 things.

1 That the case mouths are still reasonably round and any dings do not have a crease.

2 that there are no GAP or Auto Rim or 40 brass in the mix.

3 There are no SPP .

I process 45ACP brass on an autodriven 1050. All of these conditions will cause a “jam” on the press slowing production. I also do the same for 9mm as well.

I run a Hornady AP for pistol stuff. My biggest slowdown is grabbing a handful of brass or bullets and dropping several of them.

I'm sure someone had a reason for it, but I view 45GAP as an elegant solution searching desperately for a problem.
