Hornady or Lapua?

G'day!
I've run out of Berger 6.5mm .260" 140 grain Hybrid Target bullets to load for my 6.5 creedmoor, can't find any more and have given up on trying. Looking for something that I can buy when I need them. I've found some Hornady 140 grain match hpbt and Lapua 139 grain scenar bullets. Any thoughts on which bullet, if either, would be better for target shooting?.. Longest range anywhere near me (five hours away) is 650 yards.

I bought some Hornady BTHP, (not ELD's) for practice to save my Bergers for Matches. Haven't shot many, so I can't comment if they are comparable.

From my limited experience with both Hornady and Lapua I would definitely suggest the Lapua 139 gr. Scenars due to time spent with load development for a Rem 700 & 40X 260AI 1 - 8 Tw. Hornady bullets has always required more time and testing for me with any rifle or any caliber with less accuracy realiized.

What about Sierra’s? 142 SMK’s are easy to tune and are extremely accurate.

The Lapua 139's are easy to tune and can be hammers with a little load development. OK I'll say it Hornady 140 BTHP are about as good as the Sierra 140 MK's and fine for practice but will break your heart at matches with unexplained flyers. Another one to try is the Sierra 142 MK.

Never had good luck with Hornady. Maybe it’s just me. If 142SMK’s won’t shoot nothing will.

3 weeks back I picked up 1000 139gr scenars, was low on 124mks and could not find any for months, I'm impressed on the uniformity of the lapua 139 have loaded up some for testing this sunday shooting a 260ai.

The Hornady BTHP are a good accurate bullet and usually cost less than others. They are also easy to load as they are not jump sensitive.

I've been happy with Lapua 139s. They're worth the development effort. Sierra 142 we're my default, 'till I ran out.

In my opinion Hornady is never the correct answer. Lapua is almost always the best answer.

I'm having good luck with Scenar 136 in my 260 Remington match rifle. I load them .015 off the lands and they will fit in my AI magazines.

No experience with the Hornady, but the Lapua's sure do shoot - easy to tune and just an ultra consistent bullet.

Midway had sierra 142 matchkings in stock. 500 count only. Bought a box myself for my 6.5x 47 Lapua. Might still be in stock.

Might want to check around to see if someone else can better these prices...
