6br

Just got my hands on a my first 6br with a 7.5 twist and load data was using Berger 105 but can’t find any was wondering if found some berger 109s. Also local store has some hornady 100gr sst was thinking about trying those I’m pretty new to reloading and use some help with more experiencewith this round thx for your response

Although the 1 - 7.5 Twist typically will allow you to shoot the heavy weights don't be afraid to try the lighter weights as well. I've shot some nice tight groups with my 1 - 8 Twist with 68 gr. bullets. This is a very good place to start here on the site to help you gain lots of knowledge with the 6mmBR.

What Mr. Bill said. Your 7.5 twist should stabilize the 109 Gr bullet, so they could be worth a try. I personally don't know of anyone that shoots them. In today's environment I'd certainly grab some of those SST's. If they don't shoot they'll be easy to sell. The Berger 108 BT Targets, Berger 80 Gr FB, and Sierra 107's have been the easiest to get to shoot in my 6BR's. I have bullets that shoot better than these, but these generally don't take as much fiddling to shoot good. Hopefully for all our sakes bullets will become more available.

The 109 seems to pressure up about the same as 107 Sierra Match Kings. I would use that data and back down maybe 1.5gr and work back up. The 109's shoot great for me in my BRX.

Shouldn't be whole lot of difference (pressurewise) from a 4 grain increase in bullet weight. Drop a half grain from your 105 load and work up to find a node. I used identical charges for Berger 105 Hybrids and the Berger 108 BTHPs.

I just received a thousand 109's, but I currently have my short range barrel on the rifle, so haven't gotten to them yet.

The Berger 105 Hybrid is my favorite too. But the advice above to expand the search net is good and I’ll add in another excellent substitute I don’t often hear being mentioned in case it helps. The Sierra 107 gr number 1570C

Like anything else these days it may also be hard to find, but having another possible on your list increases the odds you might score some while waiting for your favorite.

The 107 gr. Sierra MK is definitely the most accurate bullet I have shot in my 6mmBR & my 243 AI as well.

These days you have to buy what’s available. Try the 100 set. Just today I shot some Sierra 85 grainers in my 8 twist 6br. A couple days ago, I bought some 70 grain Speer TNT..........because they were available!

I’ve heard mixed things about the 109s from meh to outstanding. (I haven’t shot them myself - just relating what I’ve heard from some guys who have). These days, get what you can.

How did the 85's do in your 8 twist??? Have you had a chance to load some of the 70g TNT's ?? Curious minds want to know. LOL

I use the 105 hybrids. I had almost exactly the same group with the berger 105 bt target bullets also. I just stuck with hybrids cuz i had more. The one off shot was my fault. Big 30 cal next to me with a big break on it. He shot and blast hit me and i pulled trigger when not ready. Both are 5 shot groups.

I’m on my second round of testing. I just did seating, recently. The Sierra 85s like to jump a little. .08 off the lands was the sweet spot. They went into 1/2” at 100 yards and 100 degrees. I was sweating a LOT and I may have rushed my shooting a little to get out of the heat!
I have not had a chance to try the TNTs yet.

The last time I went to the range, I spent some time on the 50 with a 22 rimfire. All was good until a guy came and opened up with a Thompson sub machine gun. It was raining hot 45 cases!

I have had good luck with the Berger 88 gr. flat base with Varget as well, at 100 and 200 yd. Varmint for Score with a 1:8 twist Lilja barrel.
