I just received CCI450 primers that I purchased off of a dealer on Gunbroker. They arrived in white boxes marked 450 O.E.M. PN7017. Are these the standard CCI-450's packaged for use by ammo manufacturers or did I get scammed?
I planned on it. THX. I'm a couple time zones East.Call CCI?
This is pure speculation, but it woudl make sense that they wouldn't want primers sold to small OEMs to pop up on the retail market (perhaps wholesale prices are different). A different box would help keep that from happening.I planned on it. THX. I'm a couple time zones East.
I've seen the 41's on the shelf at a LGS. These are not them. Called the vendor. They said that they were sourced directly from CCI. Vendor also stated that they do supply "some" ammo maker.
I called CCI and was told the primers themselves are exactly the same. Just the packaging for OEM/Ammo manufacturers. This is pure speculation, but it woudl make sense that they wouldn't want primers sold to small OEMs to pop up on the retail market (perhaps wholesale prices are different). That’s where my mind headed. Either some guy is sneaking primers out the back door of an ammo company or a truck got highjacked. You primers will probably be seized as evidence!I called CCI and learned that these are, in fact, CCI-450'S in a different wrapper. However, as they are marked, they are not intended for re-sale but are sold only for commercial use by ammo manufacturers. CCI was interested in where they were sourced and were going to follow-up on the source.

Thanks for the feedback. They are fine. I have bought them on several occasions when supply gets tight. Just a few weeks ago, in fact. The place I get them has a small commercial Ammo business as well as a reloading store. I will not be notifying CCI as I’m glad they bend the rules.
I agree. I wasn’t judging or blaming u for calling CCI. When I bought them in person, I was able to ask about the packaging. Had they shown up sight unseen in a peculiar box, I would be curious too. This particular store has always treated me & my family well. I appreciate them breaking the rules to take care of long time customers. Folks they know aren’t buying just to turn around and re-sell on gunbroker. Thanks for the feedback.
Early on in this thread, Pat suggested going to CCI. That was the sure way of validating the pedigree of these primers. There was a question that I should have asked the seller. The Gunbroker ad only showed the cardboard case with CCI label and did not show a picture of the individual bricks. That should have been a clue and a question to be asked as all of the other ads for 450's showed bricks in the blue CCI logo. I bought these because it was the only ad that offered Buy It Now. The price was in the median of what the current market so I was OK with that.
When I called CCI, the voice mail picked up and I left a simple message to call, that I had questions, not disclosing the nature of the inquiry. It was a couple of hours but I did get a call. Because of their responsiveness, I felt compelled to answer their questions.
I could launch into the moral and ethical issues surrounding this issue. My intent was not to start a flaming debate but only learn if I spent a bunch of money on bogus product. Suffice to say, I do feel that the vendor was somewhat deceptive. When I called them about the "Not for Resale" labeling, they dummied up. My opinion is that they knew what they were doing or they would have shown a picture of the bricks.
Did they ship hazmat??????Thanks for the feedback.

No. Intended to be sold retail seated into some once fired LC brass with a thrown ball powder and a cheap 55gr FMJ. That doesn’t interest me. They could have made more $ doing it “by the book” but chose to service their reloading customers with at least a small portion of their allocation.Irony: Flipping intended-for-wholesale primers on Gunbroker is something only a lowlife would do, but selling them to me is something to be appreciated.
