Is this a great a scope for PRS shooting,or s a Nightforce ATCAR better ?

I think either brand would be a great choice for PRS.
The March might be a bit overkill on the power side for my liking.
Don't focus on the scope but the reticle that you like the most. I will say that .2 mil to .25 mil windage holds are the way to go.
I tend to dial for every target on each stage so I don't use the Christmas tree reticles to the fullest. And I really do suck at hold over for some reason no matter the reticle.

Just got a March 4.5-28 with a tr1 reticle. I have atacr's and a nx8. Liking the March very much.
At that price price point it comes down to reticle and ergonomics.
In my opinion this is a terrible choice for PRS matches. The turrets adjust in .05 mil increments and only have 5 mils per turn. That makes it pretty much dead in the water PRS and NRL matches.
If you want a March, get the 4.5-28x52 Wide Angle. The turrets and reticles are specifically designed for this type of shooting.

There are two versions of the March-FX 5-40X56; the original and the Gen 2. The Gen 2 has locking turrets, a fast-focus eyepiece and a new reticle, the FML-PDKi (i for illuminated.) This reticle is pretty much the same as the one in the March-FX 4.5-28X52 with the FML-PDK reticle except that it is illuminated. The PDK in the 4.5-28X52 is not illuminated; it was designed for pure PRS competition and the lines are too fine for illumination. The longer length of the objective lens group in the 5-40X56 allowed the PDK reticle to be illuminated in that scope and still maintain the elegant, uncluttered, yet highly functional look and feel.
The Gen 2 is available with 0.05mil/5mill turrets and 0.1mil/10mil turrets.
The 5-40X56 is a bigger scope, with a higher top-end, but it does not have the wide-angle eyepiece of the 4.5-28X52. If you like the 4.5-28X52 better for PRS and you feel you need illumination, then the FML-TR1 is your reticle.
