Stock tape and fresh paint

Getting ready to refresh a BR stock for a member this is what I found, and I've always known to be true.

If you put stock tape on a fresh paint job.
"YOU WILL TRAP SOLVENTS ", and can instigate a delamination.
When I peeled the tape off this stock the paint came with it, and I could smell the sicky sweet solvents that have been trapped for God only knows how long.

So a word to the wise.
If you must use stock tape on a freshly painted stock you might want to wait a month or so before applying to let the film build breath.
Let's face it you spent good money on your build plus the cost of a paint job....
Another month of patience ain't gonna kill you.

I’m guessing this is still something you don’t want to put on until all the solvents have dissipated. Yes?
Correct that's why a suggested a couple few weeks of dry time.
It was your recommendation of the mothers ceramic coating that you applied to your stocks that got me looking into these products.
I believe you said "Its almost to slick in the bags".

It takes a good while for even volatile solvents like methyl ethyl ketone to flash off. Even if a coating was force air dried in an oven so that it was not tacky to the touch, the standard practice in the aircraft business was to wait 7 days after oven drying before testing primer and topcoat adhesion with tape.
