Usually at night time while I am on the computer catching up on all of the topics, my wife is usually making tumblers. Now, I have watched her make several "wood grain" tumblers and I often thought that it would be neat and wondered if I couldn't apply that same technique to a gun stock.
I got the extra KRG gun stock that I had out and she spray painted it white (apparently you have to start with that color), then you have to pick out your selection of alcohol inks (which by the way have to be applied with a little brush and holding the stock vertically), and of course the wait time which isn't very long for the alcohol inks to dry, then you have to put a protective coat over it. Now, I like the look of the epoxy that she uses on the tumblers, it is a nice glass look to them. We decided that with all of the nooks and crannies that it wouldn't be a good choice to apply to this style of stock. So, we decided to use the Polycrylic satin finish on it. 3 coats later it was finished!
Since she was busy doing some orders that she had. I took it upon myself to attempt to do this. Now, I am by no means a "crafter", but, I was pretty pleased with the way that it turned out.
Note: This is my RIMX action with a shilen ratchet barrel.
