Are you guys paying this much?

Before last year, when supplies were plentiful, i was paying $56 for 7mm Berger VLDs at LGS. Was $48 at wholesaler/distributor.
So for the given circumstances of now, it's not too out of line.
Especially when Sportsmans Warehouse was charging $72.99 for a box of 30 caliber Nosler Ballistic Tips.

Monos will still run you $100-140 per 100.

I honestly believe ol Larry has plenty of buying power to acquire goods at a reasonable price. He's marking goods up for higher profits.
Nothing wrong with that, more power to him. I wont be a customer by choice.
There's plenty of other suppliers selling the same goods that aren't taking advantage of the end user.
These folks are the ones that'll get my business.
Agreed. I've been watching prices between Midway and others like Powder Valley. MW is significantly higher than what PV is actually selling stuff for. I don't even open their emails anymore. Those desperate(or delusional) are welcome to patronize them but I won't support them. It's funny how some on this site will condemn other members for selling components for more than they paid yet they completely accept MW selling at any price they choose. Very short sighted for temporary profit.

Nothing supportive of the 2A about his price gouging. Actually it hurts the 2A. When loaded rounds cost $1 each the interest(or ability to afford) in shooting sports will diminish. My price for golf balls hasn't changed a bit. A 2 day regional match is approaching top national course green fees.

In 2018 copper averaged about $3 a pound. Currently it's $4.69. I have no idea how much copper is in a 200 gr .308 bullet but lets assume 50 gr(quick online search). That's 140 jackets per pound or 2.14 cents in 2018 vs 3.35 cents today. A little over 1 cent per round increase. So we jump prices over 20 cents a bullet for 1 cent increase in copper. My golf balls still need to be manufactured, shipped, etc just like bullets yet their price is stable.

It is 100% supply and demand with lots of gouging going on. Hoarders and gouging retailers will kill the sport.

I have no problem with companies or individuals making as much profit as they possibly can. The "market forces" are generated by supply and demand. However, having said that, if the prices stay like this, the market forces will force me to make decisions. One of the options I am seriously considering is selling all my competition stuff (of which I have loads of) and buying a Bass Boat and go fishing all the time. Even though I CAN afford to keep paying for components, I H-A-T-E being taken advantage of! As much as I love shooting, my days appear to be numbered!

Let's not forget the other component of capitalism. The controllable component is saying no to out of norm pricing. If the public pays.....they will charge . So when someones says, "Wow, I just HAD to pay 400.00 for an 8 pounder!" Remind him he is the reason why its 400.00. First not prepared, presidential election on the horizon, duh., then no self control, pay whatever. So now they know just how much the market is capable of being exploited for.

You, my friend, are absolutely correct! That is why my "option" of going fishing instead of competition is strongly being considered>>>>my "NO VOTE" will be in the form of changing hobbies!

Well said ,even with what is going on $.19 is quite a jump. Looks like Berger could be steping on there $ick

That's interesting. I put them away about 15 years ago. I have the same plan and is what I tell those who ask me what I will do if I quit shooting. My favorite rod is ready to go. Hares ear nymph with 2 droppers. A black ant and a red ant. I am good for 2 to 3 years, if it's still crazy....I have lots of good memories.

Nope!
All it means is that I might have to start shooting Sierra, Nosler or Hornady.

Don't get your hopes up. I found some Sierra 25 cal 110 Gamechanger tipped bullets the other day at a LGS.
These are a new line of bullets that nobody seems to have, so I paid the price to test them.
$59 per 100.

Have you checked the price of boats lately? Rods, reels, lures, and gear are all up on price. Don’t even get me started on the price of gas that it will take to get your rig to the lake and run it all day. I was averaging over $100 per outing when I sold my last rig eight years ago and that didn’t include boat payment, maintenance, or insurance.

Bottom line, shooting gear and components are far from the only things with rising prices. I bought lunch for myself and a shooting buddy yesterday and paid over $30 for two hamburgers, fries, and soft drinks at a Five Guys in Western PA. My wife spends more at the grocery store and gets less every week. I’m honestly scared to think about what things will be like by the time this four years are over. In the grand scheme, shooting components are probably the least of our problems.

I don't get it. We are all supposed to be 2A advocates and fiscal conservatives that understand the incredible benefits of capitalism. Yet every time a price goes up on an item due to market forces, many complain like socialists.......
Once you understand that everyone is a hypocrite when it comes to economics, it makes more sense. We all want lower prices for the things we buy, but higher for what we sell. We all love freedom for ourselves but are ok with less for the other guy who does something with his freedom we don’t like. We are all for lower taxes for ourselves and higher for those others not paying their share. Our self interest is rational; someone else’s self interest is greed.

I was offer 5000 primers the other day for $200................per thousand, my reply was "I'll be playing golf" if this keeps going, I'm not going to be so selfish to my family to spend that much on my pleasure. There is a "breaking point" to all of us.

This is already way too long but here is a little more for your consideration:

From Berger

Dear Fellow Shooter,

Rarely does an announcement contain information that impacts the shooting community and industry to far greater extent than simple words can adequately express. This is such an announcement.

We take great pride and tremendous pleasure in announcing that Berger Bullets has joined forces with the Nammo Group. This Norwegian/Finnish corporation is the home of a power house of premium brands including SK Rimfire Ammunition, Vihtavuori Powder and Lapua Bullets and Cases.

And from WIKI

Each of the Nordic countries has its own economic and social models, sometimes with large differences from its neighbours, but to varying degrees sharing the Nordic model of economy and social structure,[13] namely a market economy combined with strong labour unions and a universalist welfare sector financed by high taxes.

Mega corporations such as NAMMO have never been known to reduce prices. In fact, with the rising cost of purchasing smaller corporations, prices of products from the smaller corporations have steady grown when added to the conglomerate. Include in this the fact that the owners are part of countries which support massive socialism programs paid for in taxes.

Not all of this can be blamed on NAMMO but to a certain extent on the much smaller retail players exercising price increases for whatever reasons they choose to use.

:)
