Quick Question

How many of you have ever seen or used a 100 round magazine on a so called "Assalt Rifle?
Me I've only seen the cheap plastic rimfire drum style, never tried one.
PLEASE keep the current politics out of this.

A range buddy has a 50 rd drum on a Ktec (?), the empties eject behind the trigger IIRC, seemed to work well but I only shot it a couple times when he had it at the range.

About a year ago a shooter had one at one of the club ranges where I belong, it was a double drum magazine attached to an AR rifle.

If I were inclined to buy such a magazine I would probably end up going with a double stack 60 round mag they just seem to be a better shape for handling the rifle and would be slightly heavier but not as heavy as of 100 mag or as cumbersome as the big round drum mag

Was at one of the big shoots and someone had a Beta mag. Looked at it and talked to the guy. Got to shoot it too. Fit well, it was heavy when loaded, but it ran without a hitch. I did have to re-load the thing, took awhile, its not a quick refill. IIRC, had a tool that loaded 5 rounds at a time.

I had one. When shooting it , as fast as possible, your trigger finger got tired by the time you shot 30 or 40 rounds. Interesting concept, useless on a semi auto.

I sold it after shooting it twice.

I don't subscibe to the whole, 100 rounds in one magazine. If it jams or collapses during use, you loose the availability of the remaining rounds. I'd rather carry the same amount in 30rnd mags in my kit. If a mag goes down when it counts, less ammunition loss. Mag change and continue.

The Marine Corps is using them in the Squad automatic weapons currently. When they got away from the M249SAW, they went to a full auto H&K 416. They use the 100 drums with them. Ive fired it several times and had to carry it a few as well. The rifle is a bit heavier then a normal M4/M16, but that drum with 100 rds in it is stupid heavy.
I've never had a deicer to own one. First, they are heavy and not very maneuverable. Second, its to tempting for someone to mag dump 100 rds of my ammo. I'll stick with 30 rd mag.
