21 shooters turned out for the April 600 yard IBS match at Western Colorado Rifle and Silhouette Club.
Fair winds (maybe a bit challenging) and fantastic temperatures were a blessing for sure.

Dynamite match report! (but next time someone needs to mow the grass ;-)
I know it will be hard to imagine for some folks, but, the hills just beyond our impact area are at the base of the Grand Mesa. The Grand Mesa is the worlds largest flat-top mountain. At about 11,500’ the climate is substantially different than the valley floor where the range is. The Grand Mesa is much like Northern Minnesota in appearance.

With over 300 lakes and reservoirs, it is a destination for many anglers. Much of the Western Slope is PUBLIC LAND, the Grand Mesa is managed by the USFS

So, I have had a few readers (friends ribbing me) on AS ask me about the the photo in the post above and my use of the word “flat-top or Mesa” to describe the area.
That is about as flat as it gets here in the Rockies, when your used to going from a 4800 foot valley floor to 9000 or 12,000 feet in 30 to 45 minutes, those hills in that photo are just that, small hills. ;)

I’m going to doll it up with some antique speckle paint and mount it on a nice stand.
It will go good with our awards.

You'd think she'd have been ready for a break from the old fart LOL

It's gonna be a drive but I plan on shooting that range someday, love that country out there
Dave it sounds like it’s time for you to make a swing through Colorado. With our staggered schedule between CRC and WCRSC, you could do a two day 1000 yard in Byers and pick up a 600 in Grand Junction on the swing out.
