25 Creedmoor twist

Curious on actual results of twist on guys builds...most of Blackjack Bullets recommendations for the Creed show 1-7 twist moving up in SST, Blackjack to even the Weatherby a 1-7.5.
Any one running a Creed in 1-7.5? any stability issues out past 600-700 yards? Obviously running the 131 BJ

In the process of a build which will be bit faster than the CM case. I'm running a 7.5. One buddy of mine runs a 7.5 in his 25/260. Think it's called the 25 Souper. No problems with stability out to 1200 yards for him. I'd say 7.25 would be perfect for the CM personally although I've got zero experience to back it up. The 7.5 would probably do fine if you could get it to 2950-3000 at sea level. Velocity helps and I think 7.25 is a better option for under 3K. Elevation is definitely your friend for stability.

My smith runs a 1:7.5 apparently at 2950fps with good results. I was hesitant and went 1:7 twist to be safe and with alpha brass I can’t seem to get velocities up past the 2940fps range without max pressure so I settle on a load around the 2920 range with great results

This becomes an exercise in splitting hairs at this point.

Blackjack wants to be sure that if any small variable changes slightly that the performance of their bullets is maintained. So they recommend using a slightly faster twist to accommodate the potential for a little variance in your loads. You won't be hurting anything, just adding a little insurance.

I've been shooting these since an early release in several cartridges with different twist rates. I've run the .25-47 Lapua as slow as 2,800 fps. at sea level using a 1:7.5" twist with no problem of stability out to 600 yards. I even checked it on Berger's calculator just to say I've done it. Slower twist rates will often result in a loss of BC as calculated by Berger. You can still get round holes and round groups but you might see a change in your drop chart. Just be sure to check the existing twist rate in the barrel you've chosen to assure yourself that you got what you paid for.

Enjoy!:)

7.25 - 7.5 twist is ideal. 25 creed can hit 3000fps even near sea level with the BJ 131. My rifle has a Bartlein 7.5 twist on it and my fireforming loads are exactly 2900fps and they shoot lights out. Not to say that a 7 twist won’t work, but a little extra margin for speed and theoretical extra barrel life is nice.

To clarify:
I don’t shoot 25 Creed, but my fireforming loads are about the same speed as one. Hence the 7.25-7.5 twist recommendation.

My match loads are typically between 3080 and 3160 depending on powder/primer combo. The 7.5 is fine for this speed range as well, but I wish I had gone with 7.7 for the faster speeds for potential barrel life. I subscribe to the minimum twist required ideology. Overstabilization probably won’t hurt accuracy, but I have also never heard of it helping once you get past the required twist. YMMV.

2nd disclaimer:

I also have a 7” twist on a 25-06ai that is “too fast”. It’s a hammer too, but 750 rounds will probably be about it for accuracy. Will go 8” twist next for that, if I don’t change cartridges on the next barrel.
