PD shooting in AZ or NM mid-march?

Thanks for the detailed info!
It is appreciated.
I went to the BigBo “gate”.
gate closed & locked.
Sign in sheets were there.
No phone # or other info.

Found a rancher’s phone # and he kindly
directed me to a “likely” spot.

Saw some PD’s driving in.
Then ran into a long range shooter.
Pretty awesome.
I’m liking AZ. Stunning country & warmer than
central ID.
:)

So you got a permit? Great!

Quick follow-up to my Southwestern U.S. camping /trailer trip w some PD shooting...

First - Thank You all for the info, suggestions, help.

I did find a place to shoot - south of I-40, near Seligman. Local fellow directed me to a PD spot and I did shoot 50 (?) rounds .223, suppressed. Some mirage - but wind died while I was shooting, so did dispatch a few. It was well worth the effort!

Lilo's is a good bet.
:)

I like that drive better than I40. Im heading that way in 3 weeks, but cant shoot any dogs untill july 1st.
Like a trip back in time!
Interstates are quicker and more fuel options on those long drives.

I take xtra 10 gal gas w me - just in case, and 2 gal water, when its hot.
Enjoy that drive.

There is one section east of ash fork ive been on a lot that is all torn up. I have driven on it several times going to a lake that is back off the beaten path. If you did not know what it was you would never guess was old 66. My in laws are from ash fork i have gotten very familiar with that are last 17 years

Cool to hear about the history. I took Williams Road...from I-40
Seems like Rt 66 has alot of history.

Must have been re-routed, this "highway". history if you know it.

When they built I40 ash fork went down hill. Williams came arround when grand canyon rail way a d hotel was added. I have a lot of fun out in the hills around there

Several years back i was on that ranch on an elk hunt. This was facing west on top of the Aubrey vally. Was a hell of a sight. We spent about an hour just looking around

So we were planning on heading out for opener PD and fish and game told us everything was shut down because of fire danger until rain. Only thing open was private land. I have hunted the double O for years now and they are not allowing people to hunt until rain. So did anyone else have this issue? We are looking at wanting to give the Big Bo a try but wondering how much PD you see and can you shot anywhere on the property beside the closed areas. When you look on the rules it talks about Aubrey Valley which I don’t even see on the map. Do they only allow so many people and if that is the case how many is the number?

There is only certain spots they let you shoot. The rest is locked to get in. I did get into some spots when working with the game and fish doing a ferret head count. They unlocked the gates for us for that weekend. I know of another place way north of Williams but numbers were low when i was there last August so i was going to leave that area alone this year hoping numbers will get up a bit.
