I prefer my rifle to be on the heavy heavy side with most of my weight out front. Because I'm still shooting a 6.5, I have real trouble spotting my impacts(and misses!) Inside 500 yards. I've been putting in alot of practice in this department and the heavier I can get my rifle, the better its getting for me. And because I'm running a KRG chassis, they don't exactly weigh very much. I have lead stuffed in every nook and crevis of that thing with weight kits bolted on the outside. I'm at a real crossroads here. If the supply deal doesn't change soon, I'm going to have to stick with the creedmoor just because I can't get retooled and stocked up on supplied to load for a BR class cartridge.
Hence why I want the heaviest barrel I can get.Current PRS rifles are on average 20 to 30 pounds now.

And I'm guessing the PRS doesn't stand for Practical rifle shooting?Current PRS rifles are on average 20 to 30 pounds now.
This is definitely a good alternative.I have both 6bra and 6xc prefits in stock for $235 if you want to give it a go.
I can place my rifle over a traditional PRS 2x4 barricade or even a tank trap post with a game changer, run it up against my barricade stop and the rifle will balance itself. I can walk away from it and it will stay put. ( I've moved weight around to achieve this) I've got the rifle balanced well but my new barrel( no matter what the caliber) will be much heavier than my current barrel.Your thinking weight equals stability which is only good, if the weight is distributed correctly to balance on the bag you currently run.
Buillding a position and getting your frist round on target in an efficient time will improve your scores.
But it also sounds like your need to take a class. You should be able to spot your impacts inside of 500 yards with a 6.5mm
Also listen to RiflesOnly podcast they have good podcast on competition wind strategy, which will also help you.
Lets talk $$I can cut you a straight but it won't be $235.
We are moving my to lathes to the new shop this weekend. One of the lads will be set up to Contour. So we could chamber 1 in a straight Contour. Custom-made barrels are not going to be the same $235 they will probably be something closer to 400 but we haven't actually set pricing yet we're still trying to figure out ourLets talk $$
