Background Checks Act 2021 goes to Senate

Am I correct that it will require 60 senate votes to pass this bill?

Yes, normally 60. But, I'm not sure if the nuclear option can be used here, that would be a simple majority. Traditionally it's for judicial appointments and things like that, but I'm sure they could figure out some way to attach this to a bill where it could be used.

The really sad part about this is that it's "bipartisan". Don't you just love the RINOs. They should just go ahead and join the anti-Constitution, American last demcom party where they belong.
I have a few friends I shoot with that are Democrats, they appreciate their gun rights ad much as any, and not a one is a communist. Love the way some like to throw names around without any regard to others

If you don't buy a gun, you won't be on a list. ;)
No use buying another gun anyway. You can't find ammo.

And now there's the squawk about no more instant background checks?
In Ca, there's a 10 day waiting period anyway and the only pick up and go is if you have a CCW.

So brave one, what do you suggest. When you tell them to go pound sand post your birthday maybe some will send you a card.....in the pokey. Dumb talk I hear often at matches. Then when I ask who has contacted their Senator and Congressmen lately eyes go down, backs get turned and walk away. The cat left the bag long ago....I do agree conservatives as group are more talk than action. Even worse are Republicans. So, end of political commentary.....its not allowed, sorry.

Just don’t comply. They can’t even enforce the laws on the books now. Not complying is so simple. You literally do nothing, and go about your day.

This has to move forward in order for the dems to keep their promise to big tech and WEO. The great reset requires the elimination of the middle-class,gun ownership(bill of rights gone). That's why they are going to legalize all the election actions taken by dem governors, especially the ones that facilitate ballot/ID fraud. 2022 will be when they cook all the lower level elections.

They can't put 50 million people in jail.

Those people don't work for us... If they ever did, they sure don't now...

Jeff I'm not sure why people are talking about this now. Talking about this stuff after the fact is useless. It should have been discussed earlier in the week when some of us knew it was going to be voted on yesterday and today so we all could send emails and make phone calls but since we're not allowed to have political discussions some of us didn't bother to post anything because we are tired of getting our posts deleted. Like I said before we should be sending emails left and right to these worthless people in office even though it doesn't do any good it's the only recourse we have. I've been sending emails for the last 2 weeks because I knew this vote was coming up and as usually did absolutely no good. But remember no political threads on here.

My wife is at war with me on this. She is not convinced that registration leads to confiscation. That is the danger we have. On face value, getting approval to qualify for gun ownership seems "common sense". Only thing is approval is not common sense. Government can be swayed to stop approvals, no matter how good the gun owner might be.

That is the problem.

Sure most all would want guns removed and stopped from the mentally ill (whatever that means) , criminals, underage gang-bangers, terrorists, etc. The problem is who or what is doing the determination of those criteria. The result can easily be a blanket "no" and then confiscation.

As good as this legislation may sound to so many, it opens the door to horrible consequences. My take is it will pass and then things will get worse. In the meantime, criminal owners of firearms, legal or illegal, will continue to get no punishment. Gentlemen, we have a serious problem. Elections have consequences.

Having weak republicans “in our corner” doesn’t help either.

Part of her problem is Vern Buchanan. We live in his Sarasota voting district and vote for him. He owns the local Ford dealership and many other businesses in the area. Well respected, he says he did a survey of his voters and they liked the idea of owners being approved for gun ownership.

To the masses that reads like a reasonable thing to think. Unfortunately, it is the giant step we fear that will lead to confiscation. Vern has a lot of local clout and this is the first time I have heard of him going against the GOP.

Not sure that is a sign of weakness but Democrats stick together no matter how evil and foolish the topic. This is kind of a thing where right is wrong or maybe wrong is right. Man it used to be all so simple to tell right from wrong.
