What to do with Custom Bolt that won't fit raceway of different action!

Ok, I purchased a used Remington 700 SS SA with a .308 BF. It was said by OP to have been Blue printed. Put it in the safe for a project in the future. I had wanted to build a couple of 20-223 and a 20VT. So a couple years later I purchased (2) PTG Remington clone Bolts with .062" FP's, Fluted, Sako Extractor's.

Presently I'm going from a .308 BF to the new PTG Bolts with .223 BF. In trying to insert new Bolts into the raceways, only to find out neither will start into action but a very short distance < 1.00"

What is my options in using these Bolts as I've allot of money in them already.
1) Can the raceways be measured and the Bolt lugs turned down!
2) Open up race ways for uniformity!
3) Sell! No, not going to that!

Would like to hear from your experiences in this application!

Thanks for your time in this quest.

I thought to measure both before I put all back into the Safe. But wife side tracked me enough that I later put them up before measuring same. Will get them back out and measure them here in the next 24 hours.

Thanks

Your bolts bodies likely oversized to fit a reamed action raceway. As stated above you will need to have the parts fit to each other. LRI has a sunnen hone with modified tooling to hone bolt action raceways that might be an option for you if your bolt bodies are a odd dia

You must have ordered an over sized bolt, or you didnt and got one any ways. .700" is about the max you can get into a 700 on a consistent basis. I have seen tight actions that a .700" was too tight though. At this point I would recommend having the action honed, its a much better option than reaming. I would not fit the bolt tighter than .002" clearance.

When the PTG bolt handle interferes with the scope, I cut into the bolt handle.
When the PTG AR15 extractor will no snap over a chambered round, I cut on the barrel.
