Are all the bugs worked out on the new ones, what year is good/bad. Initially I understand there was a few going back for work. Looking at picking one up, any knowledge is appreciated. Thanks.

My NF Competition scope was great. Granted it was an older one.
My go to NF is the 5.5-22x56 NXS and the 8-32x56 NXS.

Never an issue with any of my NF's.....

I believe the very first year of the 15-55's (I think around 2014) may have had a couple of issues. I haven't heard of anything outside of singular issues with random scopes here and there since then. I have 3 and haven't had any issues. That could always change tomorrow I suppose, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

If you go to a F-Class midrange (600 yds) match you will probably see more of these than any other scope. If you look at those who finish in the top 50% at the match, you will probably see more Comp's than all the others put together. When I see someone talking about the Comp's "inability to hold zero" I figure they are just trying to sell Sightrons or something.

But any scope can have a problem. I once bought a used NXS and could not get the parallax to work. I sent it in and NF fixed it at no charge, but they called when they shipped and told me they could not find anything wrong with it, and maybe I just didn't know how to set it. I didn't buy that since I had never had the slightest problem getting the parallax to work on any of my several other NF scopes, and when I got it back, sure enough it was fine.

So I gathered it might be NF's marketing strategy to never admit that one of their scopes had malfunctioned, even when they clearly had. Doesn't matter much, because malfunctions in NF's are very rare, and they will fix them for free.

Most of the ones that were giving people POI issues were between 2013 and late 2016.

The 2013 model only has 5 moa on the turrets, and the dot in the DDR reticle was too big when you dialed off of 55x.

Starting in 2014 they have 10moa turrets and the DDR 2 reticle is sized properly to use at less than high power.

I think mine are great scopes.

I have 3 two of which are the older 5 moa turrets never had an issue with any of them. Personally I think the best one they made are the older 12x42 bench rest models JMHO.

Other than the moa per rev turrets, and reticle options, are there any major changes or updates on them? I’m assuming they all have zero stop, same glass etc.

I don’t wanna be wasting time researching this when one pops up, wanna try and make an educated purchase the first time. Is the glass identical in quality to Nxs line? I only have the br models.

If weight isn’t an issue, everyone I know who’s used the new Sightron SVSS ED says it’s the best glass out there (even when compared to NF comp) and they seem to be solid in recoil testing.

If holding zero is an absolute must and you are not willing to gamble on that issue in the least, then the undisputed champion is Kahles K1050.

Out of 20, one held zero!?!?
Well, that is what Alex observed, but doesn't completely tell the story. @Alex Wheeler , would you elaborate on how much the scopes were moving? If I remember, it was in the 1/16th MOA range. Also, have you tested many since you first found the problem a few years back? Are the newer scopes (2019-2020 vintage) any different?

I have a side by side tester and check my scopes annually. Anything that even makes me slightly uneasy gets sent to the manufacturer for service, regardless of brand.

The first year model, (2013) did not have zero stop. When a gunsmith I know told me he had a friend who worked for NF, he told me that his friend admitted that there was a problem with the 15-55 comp scopes and told him also that they had a fix for it. I had at the time one 2013 model which was rock solid, but I figured that I'd call NF and basically outright lie to the tech on the phone and told him that my scope wasn't holding POI. The way I figured it if they had a fix for it, I might as well send it back so they could replace what they knew was wrong. That was my way of thinking anyway. When the tech called me back a few weeks later he told me that the scope was all ready to be shipped back to me. I said to him did you find a problem and he said no it was probably your lapped rings that was the problem. I told him I never lapped one set of rings that I've owned. He didn't know what to say. I had two friend send their scopes back and the person who they spoke to said the exact same thing that it was probably the rings fault. Ya right! The only 2 scope companies that told me the truth was Kahles when I complained that my K1050 was about as clear as looking thru a foggy day in London. They said that they replaced the ocular lens. and as we speak March is shipping a scope back to me because I was in a match 1200 miles from my home and it was like looking thru chicken soup it was so bad. I emailed them sent it back last May and they e-mailed me back in November telling me they replaced the complete eyepiece. Two companies that aren't afraid to tell the truth.

Had one and sold it, they are good scopes, but not great scopes. They are on par with Leupold competition, but cost more. Put the money I sold mine for, toward a used March 40X, it is a great scope, I have no regrets.

Thanks for that info Jim--

Yeah I have several NF benchrest scopes. They are the only NF scopes I have owned and they have been good for me. Wanted to buy a comp but ive been hearing about the POI shift deal on them for years. I know i would be okay and the scope would be fine or they would fix it and it would be fine, I just dont like to deal with companies that lie to me consistently as part of their business plan.

the concensus seems to be the BR models have a little better clarity than the NXS models, and the comp has better clarity than either of the others. One reason ive wanted to try one.
