ARs in Russia -- Some Surprises

timeout

Interesting thread started by a Russian on AR ownership in Russia. Post #7 particularly interesting with regards to Russian made ammo. I am also reading this morning that our current administration may be getting closer to executive action on gun control.

That was a surprise to read. never expected a private citizen to be allowed to have such in Russia. Guessing the owner is a party official in some capacity.

As for ammo shipped here to get more money, make that a dollar a round or more today.

Im sure the Russians have made Ar's and M16's for years prior to the cold war ending for covert operations, just like Im sure the US did Ak's

The only firearms that can be owned by Russian civilians are smooth bore shotguns and they are strictly regulated and a license is required.

You guys been hidin in a closet ? The AK-74 is very similar to a AR , and been around for years , now . Not identical , but close .

The only thing similar between an AR and an AK74 is the ammo. I am sure if the Russians wanted ARs for some secret squirrel mission they would buy or use battle field pick ups just like we do. A good friend has a son that works for a firm in Atlanta that referbs lots of foreign rifles so the USA has good working rifles to train with and learn from. As to the Russians making ARs, it news to me if it is actually happening.

thats a fascinating thread by he russian-- thanks much for letting us know about it

I stand corrected. I got my information on the internet. As we know, everything we read on the internet is true.

Oh yeah , totally slipped my mind .:D The Ak-74 is nothin like the AR . It doesn't jam , have bolt lock-ups , and bent barrels from heat warpage . Yep . Nothin like the AR .

When I was in Kamchatka Bear hunting. The guide had a Tigr rifle 7.62 X 54 . A couple of the guides had a Bikal over under 7.62 X 54 rimmed and 12 ga shotun with slugs.

I have an old Mas 49/56!! Best gun ever made!! o_O o_O o_O ;)

Buddy of mine from high school had/has one of those. What a tank! Like a glorious souped up sks running on DI. I wanted one for awhile but it looks like they've gone nuts in value, so it looks like I missed the boat there.

I had a couple russians come work for me in houston in 2018 and the first thing they wanted to do was go play top golf. The second thing was to go to shoot guns since they were in their 30s and had never held one. We went to an indoor range in spring and i bet they spent $1000 each time we went. They were facetiming friends and recording each other for the record since they said only the military could own weapons like that. I dont guess they came from poor families being engineers with GE and all.
