When do you anneal?

At what point in your handloading routine do you anneal your brass? (in relation to cleaning, depriming, resizing, neck turning, trimming, etc.)

I tumble without any media polish, de-prime, clean primer pockets then anneal. After annealing I size, trim if needed then back in the tumbler with Flitz media polish. Brush out the case necks prime and load.

Seems the purpose in annealing is to keep the brass pliable so it always seemed best to me to aneal before you size the brass. As a shooter/reloaded for more than 45 years I do know that annealing lengthens the life of brass substantially. I aneal my 6XC brass after every other firing and am shooting that brass going on 12 times. 204 Ruger going on 14 some batches.

I annealed my .300 wm Norma brass every time. Barrel has been replaced with a .300 wsm, but all of 12 firings with a couple primer pockets starting to give up.. I was pushing 208's 2995fps, I don't believe without annealing they would have lasted..

Agreed . But very relevant .....and important information for the Newbies . Look around at the number of newer , and younger shooters on the line , at your next Match . And as I was taught years ago , the only STOO-PID question , is the one NOT asked .

Using the search tool will find anything you need to know. Repeating the same thing over and over doesn't make sense.
