In a few days I am going to be driving from Desmoines Iowa to Louisville Ohio. Taking I80 to Chicago then I75 for the majority of the trip.

Are there any gunshops, pawn shops , or tool shops you can recommend? Thanks for any leads.

Jaqua’s in Finlay isn’t far off I75 It’s been a very long time since I went to Jaqua’s but you could walk around the store and pick up a $50K shotgun and fondle it. See pic below

The museum at the Rock Island arsenal is a good one if you have time. Might not be a good stop if you have the vehicle loaded, they check things pretty good after 9/11.

Scheels in Coralville is pretty well picked clean right now but its a handy place if you need the restroom along I-80.

No good gun stores in the Quad Cities left that I am aware of. When Square Shooters was in business on State street it was the kind of place you only dream about finding.

Never thought I'd pop into a road trip thread and see my little town as the end destination. Some good recommendations so far, would add Fin Feather Fur Outfitters to the gun shop suggestions.

Now in my best Andy Dufrense voice - "If you've come this far perhaps you're willing to go a bit further" - if you have time Keim Lumber in Charm OH is absolutely worth the time. About an hour from Louisville, in the heart of Ohio's amish country. Keim is great by itself, but the entire area is worthy of a day if you have the time( just not a Sunday)

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am plotting a return course now. Going to get business done and take my time on the return trip. Should be fun.

Good thread!
Planning on hitting the Bullseye Trifecta this summer at Camp Perry, Canton, & the Cardinal center. Will have some time between matches, so can do some sightseeing.

Got to looking on google earth. WTH, Kelblys is within spittin distance. That one's going to be a must see. Been reading about their range since I started reading Precision Shooting back in the 70's.

If you do happen to end up on I 75 in Ohio the way to Jaqua's is exit 157, state route 12, go west a couple of hundred yards and turn right/north on Stanford Parkway, it's down less than a half mile on the right. Another place is the Midwest Shooting Center at Cridersville, exit 118 National Road. Go west until you hit South Dixie Highway County Road 25A, go left/south until you get to the access road for the place on left/east side of road.
