more stock making

Your mill looks to be similar to my Clausing 8520. I'm the second owner and it does a very nice job. Larger mill would be desirable but space limits that option. Very nice work by the way.

Your right a larger mill would be nice this one only has 11 inches of travel. The aluminum stocks are 16 inches long. You know the rest.
So I got the rest of the inletting done and started profiling the outside, probably 3/4 of the block I started with will be in the trash by the time I'm done. IMG_0131.jpg IMG_0130.jpg

Pistols are progressing although slowly cause it's been pretty nice outside and I have a bunch of farm chores to do. Got the grips installed ,scope bases made , all the holes drilled and tapped, picatinny rails on . pretty much everything is ready for final sanding and polish and anodizing. That probably wont happen till fall, I don't get much shop time during summer.Picture 034.jpg Picture 036.jpg Picture 035.jpg

Well the .223 is finally finished. Stock came out pretty good not perfect but pretty good, at least I didn't drop this one. Barrel is a green mountain 25.5 long 1 in 8 twist. Timney trigger, FDC action Mueller 8x32 scope. Thanks to the guy here that sold me a reamer.
Started load development today ,25.5 gr varget 55 gr v-max .010 and .020 off the lands.right target is .010 left is .020. It's only 50 yds but still not too shabby for a wet target in the rain. PSL target, white circle is .300Picture 032.jpg Picture 034.jpg Picture 036.jpg Picture 030.jpg Picture 037.jpg

Very cool stuff my friend, great job!!

Well I've got a little experience anodizing now, I did several test pieces and got some pretty good results so I jumped in and did the trigger housings for the pistols. Well there ok but some of my practice pieces were better. At least there done and back together. The etch step of anodizing made the holes grow a little, the threaded holes were fine but the pin holes all got reamed out and I had to make bigger pins. I've ordered stainless machine screws to put everything together with . There still a week out. I found a place online that sells hardware and you can get one piece or a hundred and the shipping is good. I needed some 4-40 countersunk allen wrench screws 3/8 long. If the local hardware store had them they'd be .35 cents each I got 100 for less than 3.00

I'm starting to get these pistol stocks ready to anodize and getting all my supplies ready for the big day hopefully in about 2 weeks ( gun show next weekend ) I had several small spots show up in the final polishing I think there defects in the extruding process I've never run into that before. There going to get a final buff just before anodizing and then an caustic soda dip and I think that will hide them . I wont get quite the shine I'd hoped for but that's ok. The one is just starting with the sanding ,the two are ready for the last buff
