25 Souper or Creedmore

Respectfully, if you go to the upper right corner of this page you will find a search box. Type in .25 Creedmoor then hit go. You will find about a dozen threads involving the 131 BJ as well as other bullets.

There is mention of some data about the 115 Berger but not the newest one from them.

With only 1 or 2 bullets. Why even try the .250 bore? Plenty of 6mm and 6.5 bullets. A 6 or 6.5 SLR will get you much farther down the road. When big bullets start making VERY Good .25 bullets, then maybe take a look at a .25 SLR!

Just follow the herd... No use trying anything new. (sarc\)

And the 131 is a VERRRRRRYYYY good bullet.

I am doing a 6.35mm. 6.5 X 284 is a barrel burner and 6 284 is even worse - so ben there done that.

So 6.35 souper my be the ticket but just wanted to get a feel for which powders. But since everyone hates it - I will just do it myself.....

25 Creedmoor sounds like fun. I've mulled over the idea of a 25 Dasher now that brass is available without all the forming needed. @Romulus may have some guidance for you on the 131.

For load data on the Souper, start with .260 Rem (6.5-08) data using 140gr bullets. The 131 Ace will have similar bearing length, seating depth, etc. It will just move faster out of the barrel with a similar charge.

The only consideration between the Souper and CM would be OAL limitations. The 131 Ace is a LOT longer than most bullets in the -08 family can efficiently utilize. The extra case capacity is diminished by deep seating the bullet. In a standard short action there will be no extra gain from any added capacity or powder in the Souper, unfortunately.

If you are not opposed to something more interesting, look into the 25 SAW as well. Basically a short ackley version of the -08 case. Better positioning of the combustion chamber for better efficiency.

Or....
If not a hunting rifle, throat the chamber to seat the bullet out of the powder column.

A 25 Souper in a Mauser action might be an interesting option for a hunting rifle.
