Excellent Vortex Service

I had a Vortex Venom installed on my Glock 17. During a shooting session, a crack appreared on the lower left of the glass. It looked as if an object hit the glass although I did not hear the hit; it may have been that I was focused on shooting and with the hearing protection and recoil, I may have have not noticed the hit. It may have been an ejected case which would have been an unusual low trajectory but maybe the motion of the hands under recoil may have intercepted the case.

I emailed them about this and they said ship it in and they replaced it!

You are lucky - I ordered one that arrived NIB nonfunctional. Never again. Check out the reviews done by Sage Dynamics on YouTube. He is brutal in testing. Trijicon is number 1 with Holosun following.

They are the masters of replacing scopes, because they replace so many! No Thanks.

Perhaps you should be more specific. I had one of the older upper-end Viper scopes that the eye piece got clocked when an overhead shelf fell on the rifle while in the craddle on the bench. The power adjustment ring was now "gritty" afterward. Now, by all intents and purposes, that's not a manufacture defect in any way. They replaced it even after I I described the situation. So, are you basing your statement from personal experience or just what you presume? Just curious.

I have owned 3 personally, all 3 had various issues. 2 had to be replaced which they did, no problems. All 3 now reside with new owners! Lol . Don't get me wrong, their line of scopes have some great features, better that a lot of brands. They just don't seen to last long before they break.

That's interesting. Aside from one Hendsolt that I retained, all of my rigs are glassed with Vortex from one degree to another. Never yet had any issues other than the accident I had with the one I described. I'm sorry you had issues with your three. But then again, I was in your canoe with other brands I formerly owned as well.

I’ve owned 2 vortex scopes. Both failed after almost no use at all and had to be replaced. When I received the replacements, I sold them and don’t plan on buying any more. They definitely stand behind their products, but they replace a lot of scopes.

Which models Vortex scopes?

Both were PST’s; a 4-16, and a 6-24. One stopped tracking reliably, and the other suffered what Vortex called “reticle de-lamination”. Both were basically new, with less than 10 hours of actual use each.

IME, you have to buy their top end stuff. I own five Razor GenII scopes (4.5-27) and shoot them on everything from 223 to PRC. No issues of any kind with them. I have four PST scopes (both G1 & GII). One G1 failed and it was my fault. They replaced it without hesitation still; even upgraded it to the new GII version. I do see lots of issues with the Strike Eagles but they are definitely a lower tier line.
I have not used any of their electronic optics. My eyes are just not red dot ready.

Chalk me up to a never again Vortex owner. I see so many come into my shop for fitment and load development and I cringe every time. Every scope in the Viper line is absolute junk HST, PST it doesn't matter. I have seen Crossfires hold hold up better. With Vortex its not a matter of if you will use the VIP Warranty its when. Lots of other scopes out there at a similar price point with much better glass and a whole lot less problems. Vortex Repair Meme 2.jpg

I know national champions F-class shooters in our area that use the Golden Eagle for competitions and load development.
I have a Golden Eagle on a Armalite AR10 and a PSTIII Gen 2 and a Viper 1-4x on a AR15 with not problems.

I'll admit I don't shoot a lot and am very easy on my scopes, but I haven't had the 1st problem with any of the four I own which wasn't caused by me.
I dropped the elevation turret of a PST while setting the zero stop once. It fell on cement and no longer fit correctly. Soon after a quick phone call, a new turret was in my mailbox along with a nice Vortex cap.
I call that great service.

I bought a Razor LH a few years ago that was focused at around 35 feet. I sent it in and the tech called me saying he was checking it out on the collimator, he rattled off some numbers and told me that the scope was almost perfect. He said that I had the eye piece set up wrong and that I could give it another try or take a refund. I knew better, but I suspected they would fix it and just didn’t want to admit how bad it was. I don’t know if it was the same scope that came back, didn’t check the serial #s.

The return scope was parallax free at about 55 yards, back it went. That one was replaced for having “debris” in it, and the replacement came back with flip up caps. It is parallax free at about 65 or 70 yards, and starts showing significant parallax by the 100 yard line on 8X. How useful is a holdover reticle scope that you can’t trust at 200-300 yards? I have 4 other scopes from LOW and they are gems, among my best. I have learned my lesson on Vortex.

ETA-I feel kind of bad about that rant, even though it’s all true. A lot of people are happy Vortex owners, and to Vortex’s credit, they kept taking the scope back to look at it. I got the feeling that there was a bad batch of that particular scope, but I didn’t want to give up on it because I got the Razor on closeout for under $400. The 2nd and 3rd weren’t total duds, and did look great at dusk. I have mulled over re-parallaxing the 3rd myself, but don’t want to screw up the warranty.

You can't screw up the warrenty. You could run it over with a truck smash it with a sledgehammer cut it in half with a grinder shoot it with a nail gun they will still replace it. Reparalex it if it doesn't work blow it up with tannerite and send it back for new
