Question for you AR15 builders.

I have a AR15 350 legend and really don’t care for the flash hinder on the end of the barrel. I found a spare one in my gun spare parts box. It was on a Anderson 223 cal.I think. just a cheaply ($12.00) but like it better. QUESTION....if it threads on the end of barrel it should work right ? I don’t think needs to be a special 350 Legend size would It ????? Thanks MD

Threading is the least of your worries, you don’t want to shoot a 9mm bullet through a .223 flash hider.

Folks I just YouTubed it. I Need a specific 350 legend flash hinder. Brownells has them. Above poster was correct. Needs to be equal to 9mm in size. Thanks again. Marty

Ouch!

I’m going to venture a guess that 350 barrel is not going to have 1/2-24 threads. It is probably at least 5/8-24 like 30 cal muzzles.

I know someone has an exception, but in general 223/556 muzzle devices are 1/2-24 and 30 cal are 5/8-24 or larger. (I have one that’s a 3/4xsomething)

but as you learned, no, don’t shoot a big bullet through a small hole.

Threading for 9mm AR barrels is all over the place; 1/2-28,1/2-36, 5/8-24 and 9/16-24. I have a barrel that’s even 1/2-32. He should just have it verified with a thread pitch guage.

This is absolutely true. I just did a search of muzzle brake manufacturers and all of the thread sizes are available for the .350 Legend. The 1/2-36 seems to be the most popular but all the others can be found. No guarantee of the style you prefer just the thread size.

The thread gauge is an important tool in every shop. Never guess, always measure to be sure.

Originally the threading was standardized.
<=.224 diameter or smaller was 1/2 x 28tpi
>.224 diameter was 5/8 x 24tpi
9mm was 1/2 x 36tpi (safety design so accidentally couldn't use a .224 sized bore device)

This all went wonky a few years back when a bunch of new gear came on line and every small startup decided to do their own thing.
