Is the Rodzilla top legal at IBS matches?
If not I like to know why.
Thank you
Al. B

I have had several requests to offer an IBS legal top since introducing my Rodzilla 5-Axis top. I have been working on a solution and will be introducing my new IBS legal 5-Axis adapter that uses any late model Farley sand bag. this new top replaces my original F-Class sand rails and roller desighn but retains the independent swiveling top plate. Conversion from my original roller blocks to this new IBS adapter takes a few minutes and can be switched back just as easily for guys who shoot F-Class and benchrest. I have tested the Protector Model bags and the Edgewood one piece and two piece bags.

Full information will be available on my website within a couple weeks.

Here is what I have coming out.

Here are a few more pictures showing my new IBS top.
After testing and shooting every Farley bag I could find I much prefer the one piece Edgewoods. Ryan builds his bag on a die cut heavy leather base that leaves a lip standing a bit wider than the bag itself. To get a perfect fit I have milled grooves in the bottom of the receiver block to accept these lips. You just remove one end and slide the bag in.
There are two mounting screws under the sand bag that attaches the block to the tapped holes where your 5/16 roller block studs are currently.

Will they also fit 4” foreend.
I have your top on a Neo Seb.
I know protector Model offers a 4” wide Farley one piece bag and I believe Ryan at Edgewood can build one as well. My top measures 5-1/4” wide by 1-3/4” (inside dimensions)
All of my testing was with 3” wide bags.

I think the ruling for IBS ..... that the retainers a distance from the fore arm of a 1/2" so for 4" you would need 5" of course this may have changed but check the rule book..... jim

This topic was an issue at the Manatee IBS 600 match two days ago. The shooter was granted time to change his top and all went well.

Wish there was a firm IBS ruling on the use of LabRadar during IBS shoots. They are an "electronic device" of sorts yet past practice has allowed their usage during IBS competition. We had challenges on that issue during this last shoot also.

Iam not familiar with the Rodzilla, so exactly what is it about the Rodzilla that would make it illegal in IBS or NBRSA Competition.

Capt Mal I have done explained lab radar rule on the other post . No where in the IBS rule book does it say anything about electronic device it says no electronic wind reading device how much planer can that be .

Aware of that Dave. I KNOW the LabRadar is legal by omission of the issue in the rules. As AL is relating, many shooters complain about it. Many shooters have no clue what the rules state. They most often speak what they think and that misconception seems to spread.

It would be helpful if the acceptance of Lab Radar was stated instead of us having to justify it just by past practice.

Really?
You believe it would actually be helpful if IBS amended a rule that states electronic wind reading devices are not allowed to state specifically the Labradar is legal?
If you think a baseless complaint now is a PITA just wait until you make a rule specific to one electronic device.
BTW, how many of those who complain about Labradar on the bench use a fan at their bench during comepetion? Isn't that an electronic device?
If I have a question on legality of some part or device it is for my benefit, before I break a rule and not to use the rulebook to eliminate my competition.
Is IBS perfect? Of course not. Can/should IBS change? Of course.
The change has to be for the good of all competitors instead of to punish a few. It also has to be done methodically and fairly for the affect of competitor and vendors alike.
If we could do so, the best one rule to add would be "SHUT UP AND SHOOT!. (as I exit the soapbox now)

Wouldn't it have been more user friendly to use your existing base bottom sand bag pads and redo the roller system to a 1/2 " side bag similar to the 3 piece rest tops from the seb rests?

Hi shootforfun
I think your in the wrong threads if your referring to labradar.

That’s why nothing gets solved just kick it under the rug and forget about it.
In my opinion which probably doesn’t mean nothing no electronic devices none zero including cell phone should be at the line.
When we are a match and you have 11 to 12 shooters coming up to you about the electronics on the bench table what do you say to them look up the rules it’s very vague on electronics on the bench and most likely the rule was made when lab radar wasn’t even around.
Me personally I don’t care I just want to follow the rules and tell our shooters the rules.
No electronics is going to make you shoot any better in my opinion.
Thank you
Al. B

No sir. @CaptainMal clearly opened the door to a general discussion of legal or not.
If you are still needing an answer to the current Rodzilla question it is because of the IBS sand (and amount of it) under/around the fore end IIRC.
A buddy showed up to shoot the IBS 1,000 Yard Nats one year with only a 308 and a bipod (no Tactical Class then). He was not allowed to shoot it that way due to the sand requirement. He shot off a sandbag in front without the benefit of a rest.

Al write that up get the signatures present it for next years winter meeting. See how it goes . The rule is plan no electronic wind reading devices. No where is anything about electronic devices. This year alone winter meeting will have the use of electronic targets for sighters only . The issue comes into play is no one goes and gets rulebook and says right here is what it says . The administration of the IBS can not change or add to a rule that has to be done by the shooters. The shooters control the rulebook . The Rodzilla rest can be made legal if you write up the rule to make it legal get 25 signatures and get it passed with online vote at winter meeting that’s it simple as can be .

Dave
The reason I asked the question was because the people that had them or bought them they were told that they are legal for IBS and when we read the rulebook they are not legal for IBS
I have rodzilla that I use for F class for IBS I use the Sinclair rest.
