Mike Ross Brakes

I bought a Ross brake 5/8x24 Threads . My gunsmith did a first class job installing it. I decided to try a different brake but same Thread size. I bought a Area 419 brake ,when I screwed it on there was a gap of maybe 1/64th of an inch . I have that same brake on my Bergara ,but zero gap. Does my gunsmith need to lengthen the threads ?

Your gunsmith installed your brake. He had no way to know you was going to change it so dont be mad with him. If it was me id modify the new brake (bore it deeper). Its way easier to ship and setup than a barrel

Like Dusty already mentioned, I’d modify the hellfire adaptor as it’s the least expensive part. Have your smith or any competent machinist bore one or two threads out (depending on pitch) so the shoulders mate. Good luck!
