Rifled shot gun barrel

I was raised to think that it was the purpose in life for a shotgun to be smooth bore.

Now I have become aware of slug shots and reloading, a rifled barrel in a shotgun is desired.

While I still think this is an abomination and a sin against nature, I would like to learn more.

Can a rifled barrel be obtained for the VR-80?

Is there a threaded choke.

Please enlighten me!

Rifled shotgun barrels have been available for over 60 years. The first I was aware of were made by hastings for 1100 and 870 Rem before the factory picked them up. I 1st read about them in some kind of shooting magazine in the late '60s

Several companies make rifled choke tubes. I can't speak for their efficiency since I have never tried them and I'm not sure if they are meant to be used with typical slugs or the newer 'sabot' slugs or maybe both? They are available for most manufacturer's choke tube threading.
