Of course, but that's not the only thing they sell.I doubt that the seller can stay in business on a 8% mark up.

Fact!....Nothing new, every 4 years. I used this opportunity to move out some old stock I had. I just sold 13,000 Wolf primers to my local gun shop for $20 per 1k. I hope he makes a good profit on them. Keep in mind these local shops can't get anything to sell you. You may think they are getting rich, in fact they are going under...
This is what I thought it was all about until receiving an email from Powder Valley today regarding the primer shortage. I'm guessing most of you received it too. Seems there is a lot more to it and it doesn't sound like it will be ending anytime soon. Our shooting hobby won't be ending. The supply of components is warehoused by those who planned ahead. I have enough stuff for 2-3 years of LR BR competitions. Most guys that I compete with are similarly stocked. We buy what we know we will need when it's available. That means a jug or two of powder one time, 2-3k primers another time, a good supply of bullets and brass the next.
The companies making powder and primers aren't scaling back production, the shortages are driven by panic buying. The key is to make sure you have enough stuff for these common cycles of shortages. Those who don't plan ahead will be left out.
I'm guessing things are different in different parts of the country - but around where I live, the gun shops can't get enough to sell - and guns are sold before they come in. Not sure how it translates in profit for them- but there is a line going down the street every time I drive by the local shop (only so many allowed in at a time). I have a boat load of those Russian primers and have been doling them out to the unfortunate. Remember when they were $1.00?Fact!....

I didn't say the shortage of primers was ending soon, I said our shooting hobby will continue even with the shortage. This is what I thought it was all about until receiving an email from Powder Valley today regarding the primer shortage. Does he ship ? what is the name of the place ?An update from the owner of a brick and mortar LGS. I have 60,000 primers coming from a distributor. Had to pay hazmat, usually I don't because they are delivered from a warehouse 2 hours east of me. All federal, mixed LR, LP, SR and SRM. Hazmat added a few bucks to the thousand but the price definitely went up. Was selling for 40 bucks tax and everything, Now 62.25 tax and everything. Quite a jump and no I don't gouge my customers. So expect to pay more when available. It sucks, but that's the way it is.
I dug out a 3/4 full brick of Rem 9 1/2 from the early 80’s. They are working great on reloading my 22-250 coyote loads.Well, the store selling for $169/brick seems excessive, but it will keep those from going to anyone who doesn't really NEED them, they won't likely be in a reloaders inventory that already has some. People who hadn't prepared are out there trying to build inventory at the worst possible time, making the situation even worse. The components we use have long shelf lives, in a few year, those of you that didn't prepare should think about laying in a decade worth of primers, powder and the bullets you don't cast...unless you are new to this, it isn't the first shortage you have seen.
You are not alone!"At my age I need a list. lol'
Rebs, "He" is I in this case and no I am not set up to ship or do internet sales. Local only.If I did do web sales they would be gone in seconds. I have to take care of my community first, lot's of reloaders here.Does he ship ? what is the name of the place ?

North CarolinaWhere are you located?
Except it's not 50 years its a few weeks. This primer inflated pricing is no different than someone who sells a Hemi Cuda that paid 4 grand for back in 1970 and sold it for 1/4 of a million dollars 10 years ago.
This stuff went on when Obama got in twice before. Some people just don't learn. All there doing now is whining because they haven't learned a damn thing about things that have gone on in the past.Except it's not 50 years its a few weeks.
I know. I got caught with my pants down back when Obummer was elected and I vowed to NEVE let that happen again. This stuff went on when Obama got in twice before. Some people just don't learn. Like i said it's not being a pirate. These sellers are not putting a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to buy their primers for 150 a brick or paying 900 bucks for an 8lb container of Varget. If a buyer is dumb enough to pay those prices kudo's for the seller.I know. I got caught with my pants down back when Obummer was elected and I vowed to NEVE let that happen again.
I just don't think people should reward pirates.
