Sako barrel replacement

Hi, I have a Sako AII chambered .243 rifle. I have searched for a sako replacement barrel Without success. I believe these are 1” 16tpi. I came across a Tikka take off in the desired 7mm-08 caliber for less than $200. It is also 1” 16tpi. I would think it would go right on. What are your opinions?

I believe that sako and tikka both use sako barrels. It would be no different than getting a prefit and then having the chamber space checked as far as I can tell.

Its called headspace and you will need a lathe,hs gages and a reamer because the chance that your hs will be correct is next to zero much less having the lettering on the barrel line up. You will be much better off starting form scratch with a good barrel blank.

Thank you and I fully understand what it is called. I wIl have a smith put it on If I rebarrel the rifle.

Another 100.00 or so is good money spent for a brand new barrel vrs a used one you have no idea the round count or how it shot.
Smiths have to set up a barrel to fit a used barrel up the same way you do a new one so usually the cost is the same.
