Nicely done!if you live in Finland, you have to have sauna. At least one in House and best is if you have one outside on your backyard. This I did build couple of years a go to have sauna for that while when I make renowation for sauna which I do have in house![]()
That`s right, finns usually did build sauna first. And it still happens if you build summer cottage, first you build sauna and after that you build cottage.Nicely done!
I have heard that Finns when homesteading built their sauna first and then the house, lived there until the main house was built. That is at least what is rumored about the Finns that settled in MN and the UP or MI. Like I said rumors so maybe not true.
Not Finnish but did some design work on a beachside sauna that will go in after my house does next summer on some sand we bought on Lake Michigan. I have been looking at using similar machined log construction.
I was looking at stoves yesterday, and I liked one that I could feed from the dressing room, providing some heat for the dressing area. Winter saunas can be hard in the north when the dressing room is not heated. That`s right, finns usually did build sauna first. machined log construction is easy to build, it did take about a day to build walls up. My sauna has dressing room on right and sauna is on left.
Hope that we will see pictures of your sauna when it is ready.![]()
Yes, those stoves are really nice. I did make some extra insulation to dressing room so I get it warm if needed. I really enjoy rolling in snow but now I have couple of dogs so it is not wise to test what you find below that pure white snowI was looking at stoves yesterday, and I liked one that I could feed from the dressing room, providing some heat for the dressing area. The lake home will be for spring to fall use, as I am tired of northern winters, but downline someone may use it during the winter and appreciate leisurely dressing. Warmth while dressing is nice after a brisk dunk though Lake Michigan's ice, I never got into rolling in the snow.
Yes sir I doNice buckle and good for him! Enjoy him while you can.
needs more spikes for my wife!!!!!This thread needs reviving....
An item I made some time ago after a bathroom remodel. I did not like any of the wall mounted paper holders. I had some inch thick 10" square granite samples and leftover redwood deck pickets. And a bucket full of RR spikes. Came up with this dual roll paper holder. It weighs in at 32 lbs and very stable. It can be moved around to accommodate both left and right hand wipers. It can be set up for "her" with a scented candle, or for "him" with gun porn. Perfect look for the hunting cabin, uptown suite or any home.
My grown daughters still hate it, my wife has finally warmed up to it. I love it.
It kind of looks like, somewhere, there is a barn with a hole in its wall. I love the tool but, if I may, I would suggest screwing it to a piece of angle iron so you can put the magnetic base on it. That way, the indicator is mounted on the tool; thereby eliminating a potential error. In addition, the unit is portable and you don't have to clamp it to your bench with the press/indicator mount. WHI though this would be a fun thread after replying to mike a and his idea on a a way to beat the heat while shooting. I have a thin wallet and big needs so I have to get creative. Here’s my homemade concentricity gauge I made after seeing the price of the one with a wheel (21st century?) I used 4 marbles, wood glue, a nail with two holes to set the cartridge up to check the loaded round or the neck and $40 for a cheap feeler gauge and magnetic arm. It’s no Myotukarateiforgetitsname but it really works well, checked with marked feeler thickness set.
Cons- not very portable
Pros- price and I did that!
Who else has a homemade tool or shooting thing they have made or improved on? I know that there are a lot of smart people on this forum with the capacity to build or invent their own widget. Let’s see yours...
250AI nice! I sure like mine.Nothing special, but the wood smells nice. Huon Pine, possibly 2000 year old wood.
