Trim Die

Does anybody know of someone who makes these? I would like to try an find one for 30x47.
If you are talking about file trim dies, I have a couple that Hornady made for me.

If you have your reamer, a Machinist can make one for you from a die blank.

If you are doing a lot of cases you will need to have a hardened face on on the die.

I have trim dies for every caliber I shoot, they are so easy to use I was hoping to find out where to find one or someone who made them. As for neck sizers I do not or have not ever used one and I've been reloading since 1974.
In my die boxes there is a spot for a third die and I use it for my trim die ( that is what it is for right? ). Besides a trimmer will just be something else to find room for when done with it.

I usually make my own then torch and quench, but these are
more for hack sawing off excess from wild cat work. Best I
can tell you to do, and it's rather inexpensive is get a Forster
Original Case Trimmer kit. You'll get 3 collets that will fit just
about all cases, and pilots from .22 thru .30. And larger pilots
are cheap.

I don’t think Redding is going to make any that are not already in stock. I tried to get one in 6.5 Creedmoor, and they said they had no intentions of ever making it. I wonder if they have to give Hornady a percentage of anything to do with the Creedmoor.

Why not just use a regular trimmer? Or a really nice trimmer like a Giraud? I can’t imagine a die being any faster or more precise.

The trim dies are neither one, they were just what some of us started with and seem old hat . The Redding trim dies are good because you can run a fired case up in them to see if their too long, as where the RCBS form/trim dies the case’s have to be sized first. I use the little Forster lathe type most now.
