Majestic Bsa 30/06 bolt

I purchased a majestic bsa 30/06 went to range to shoot , bullet wouldn't fit in barrel correctly looking to take apart bolt and could use help. Thank you be safe

What does the bolt have to do with the bullet not fitting in the barrel? Have you confirmed that it is indeed a 30-06?

Is the barrel itself marked '.30-06' or were just told it was a .30-06?
If it isn't marked as original , maybe it's been rebarreled?

Are you referring to the entire cartridge as the 'bullet'?
Is it just the projectile which is somehow stuck?

Kurz it is marked 30/06 on barrel but bolt will not fully engage I was hoping to get a diagram or something to take apart bolt thank you for your response

Did you check the chamber for an obstruction? Been wrong before, but do not believe the bolt is the problem. Do you know the history of the rifle? Possibly never fired. If so may be it slid by the inspectors. To my crude moderately uniformed eye, I believe I see proof makes on the barrel.

wouldnt be surprised if there was a broken off case shoulder in the chamber or one of those 3006 to 308 inserts in the chamber so someone could shoot suprlus 308 out of the gun. INspect it with a borescope or run a broken case extractor in it and see what comes out.

There are a couple of things which might create the situation you're trying to solve:

- If the bolt is in the fired position it will not go into the receiver completely.

- As above, if there is something in the chamber preventing the cartridge from being seated completely.

The first is unlikely but the second, as mentioned, can be resolved by using a flashlight, bore light or borescope to check the chamber for a blockage. Do not arbitrarily go sticking tools into a chamber before determining the blockage.

There is no way the bolt is at fault. Disassembly will leave the bolt length the same as the lugs etc cannot be removed. I suggest that you enlist the help of an experienced shooter or gunsmith before doing anything.
