Ever tried cci 450's in 17 remington?

Blew the heck out of my groups back in the day with cci 450's, but you have to use what you have on hand. I have a great 17 Rem reamer with zero freebore, no turn neck.
We shot 24g of IMR 4320 with Berger Match 25g= 4150-4200 fps
22.5g of H322 with Berger Match 25g= 3850 fps....better load for foxes and bob cats, long shot strings before the barrel powder fouls out
7 1/2 primers for all, Remington brass, touch the lands with the bullet, tiny groups.
We used Shilen and Lilja barrels on a re barrel which did not take long as that 24g of IMR 4320 is rough on a 17 barrel of any kind.

I love em in the Dasher,I would try em with H-414 in the 17Rem.Start 1 grain down from your normal load with 7 1/2s.They are considered magnum and as such the old school of thought was go a bit lighter on the powder with mag primers,they will be better in cold hunting situations too.

WW-760 andH-414 are pretty much the same powder with the same burning rate so perhaps that takes some of the confusion out of the equation.Smaller bores and a modest to healthy amount of boiler room tend to respond well to powders in the slower range.
My vote is for H-414.But as you have seen,lots of good folks have their favorite choice.

My Lilja barreled 17 rem is crazy accurate with 29-30 gr bullets and H414. Worked so well I have never bothered to try anything else.

WW760, H414, and H380 all work well in my 17Rem with the 30gr bullets. As far as the primers go.... try both the Rem 71/2 and CCI 450's and see what works best in your rifle keeping in mind that for hunting purposes the most important shot is the first shot out of a cold fouled barrel. JME. WD

In my 17 Remington rifle the CCI-450 primers tightened the groups from 3/4" to 3/8" when I switched from the 7-1/2 primers. It's too bad that the IMR4007SSC Powder has been discontinued. It work "GREAT" in a couple of 17 Remington rifles that I have owned. I'm going to give H380 powder a try.
