6br CBI reamer...0.093" freebore

about to order a a 6br from CBI...and asked for a copy of the reamer, and found out it has a 0.093" freebore. I had planned on ordering it with a 1:14 twist, and planned on shooting 68gr bullets.....but, now....im not sure.

how will this freebore work with light bullets? should I just set this up to shoot 80gr instead?

It’s going to be a little long, but if you stick to Short Range Flat Base Bullets built on .825 jackets, you will probably be OK.

My BR reamer has a .060 throat, and shoots Bullets like the Bart’s Head Hunter FB bullets great.

By the way, go on ahead and get a 1-12 twist barrel. It will shoot the lighter bullets quite well, and is necessary for the 80 grain bullets.

i think after some deep thought....i might just build this in a 1:8....and make my predominant bullet Bart's 80gr...and that leaves the ability to shoot 105's.

26"...varmint contour...and i'll single feed it. should be fun.

I will have 50 freebore and zero freebore 6bra Remage prefits here in a few weeks in 1-8 hv. The 50 fb shoots the 80 Berger and even the 108 Berger outstanding. $235.

I have a 1-8twist CBI 0.093 FB in 6br. The lightest bullet I have have had good success with is the 70tnt. I have 70 tnts loaded to 2.245” with about. 0.010” jump and a good portion of the bearing surface still in the case. They shoot very well. Any bullets I’ve tried lighter than this have quite a large jump.

87s and 105s will shoot very well for you!

Any plans for some 20 cal? I'm looking to build a 20 Vartarg. Not because I need it - just because I want it!

Run with it and shoot the 60's. I'm currently shooting 60gr Sierra "Varminter's" in my factory 1-8 twist 30 inch barrel and just tonight shot an awesome .375 group at 300 yards. The little 60gr bullets will actually reach the lands in a factory Savage barrel designed for 105 class bullets and shoot pretty darn good as well.

I would go with a zero freebore if your plan is to shoot the light ones. I have a 6mm BR with zero freebore and even with this there isn't a whole lot of bullet in the case. I use the Berger 64 gr column bullet. Throat erosion will happen.
