Hmmmm, wonder if they'll screw w the "overlapping" burn rate offerings? Dropping some, benefitting the bottom line and stockholders of course, if publicly held. Another potential wrench in the works.

Cutting production on a profitable product when you literally (literally, Mr. Biden) can't make enough product to meet demand is usually considered a poor business decision.

Not sure how dropping some would benefit shareholders if they own the ones being dropped...

Shareholders would benefit from sales either way, wouldn't they?

Hodgdon or the others doesnt make any powder as far as i know. A few places in the world makes it all for all the brands
40-50 years ago this wasn't true but it was already starting to take hold. IMR and Alliante I "think" made powder but they couldn't keep up w/Bruce Hodgdon. He was a shooter and experimenter but not a powder manufacturer. He was just a VERY smart guy. Gary

Soon, there will be ONE powder distributor in this country.

And HE will set the prices.

This country has come to embrace monopolies. It's a very, very bad thing.

Some Accurate Arms grades were made in Israel at one time, but that was a really long time ago. Accurate Arms then sourced its powders from a Czech outfit (still around - it supplies Shooters World these days) until Western Powders Inc bought it. Western terminated the Czech contract and uses three sources - P B Clermont in Belgium for the Ramshot ball powders and possibly some of the Accurate grades; General Dynamics St. Marks Powder Co. in Florida for some Accurate label ball types; General Dynamics Valleyfield in Quebec Province Canada for its extruded products. (Valleyfield also makes most IMR powders for Hodgdon.)

The buy-out gives Hodgdon a strong position as the bottling / distribution and marketing outfit for Hodgdon / IMR / Winchester and now Ramshot / Accurate marques. However, it's the only family owned US concern in the business and the other two big players Alliant ATK and Nammo (Lapua-Vihtavuori-Berger) are multinational combines, especially Alliant. I suppose it also provides Hodgdon with product in the literal sense as its big problem in recent years has been getting enough Australian ADI produced extruded powder to meet demand. (You'd never guess that from threads on this forum of course! :) )

I’m a fan of both brands of powder, but competition improves the breed. This trend of big fish swallowing their competitors is unsettling.
