Thank You Lee

Have been using Lee stuff for years, Collet dies, power measure and the priming tool. Bought the bench primer and have been happy, although it does jam occasionally. The other day I had a primer stand up, didn't realize and I tried to seat it. In the process the rim that holds the shell holder broke....MY FAULT... Wrote Lee to alert them of a weak spot and they replied "send some pictures". Yesterday, a week later, I got a new frame....NO CHARGE! Just can't beat the service!

I'll have to admit the only Lee product I own is the original AutoPrime tool. I believe it came out around 1970 for $9.95. Dad and I each bought one. It was a welcome relief from the one at a time primer seating routine using the press arm and ram. I have not been without one ever since. Sure, it's made from zinc and plastic but it works well. Over the years I've replaced numerous parts and broken a few thumb levers, too. It was a sad day when Lee discontinued that tool. Fortunately, I have a couple of new ones and lots of spare parts to keep them working for a long time.

Just two weeks ago I had one break at the shell holder after seating a million primers.;)

That is my gripe with Lee - discontinue the best priming tool I've found since I started reloading in the early 70s. I've bought a half dozen or more different priming tools since and not found one as dependable and easy to use.
Then recently, they changed the collet neck sizer to not size the whole neck. Both decisions make no sense to me.

Finally made it to a buddies last week, he hits more auctions and gets called about estate items all the time. I had asked him if there was a Lee primer somewhere, he had told me several. Well I nosed around and found one(small primer setup) in very nice shape, even had a #4 shellholder. He said take it, and gave me a brick of Fed 210/210m primers. Couple days later he called and asked if I found any small rifle primers, told him I didn't look for any,was happy with the LRP. He said dug into a stash and has a brick of 7.5, next time I stop buy. Told him they are all high demand, he said he knew.

I acquired a NOS Lee Auto Prime II for $10 recently and I'm looking forward to tying it out, especially after learning it can use the current folded design primer feed trays with a lock feature as well as the original round design tray. It's a ram prime style device that uses the same tray and troughs as the Lee 1000 system, it uses the same plungers as the original Lee Auto Prime hand priming tool. Most of the primers I've acquired are CCI & Remington, things just fell out that way.
