Case chucking

So I am looking at different ways to spin the case in a drill.

I am wanting to polish the carbon off the outside of the neck

What do you recommend as a way to chuck the case?

Something like the K&M shell holder power adaptor

the holder from a lee case trimmer. BUT take an unused die lock nut and fit it around the movable part of the holder to make a better hand grip.

I use a 1/2 inch battery powered drill. It will take any case I normally shoot, 6BR, 308 etc. Use the same drill for turning necks with a K&M cutter. I get a lot less wobble than using the Sinclair tool. Slide the bottom of the case all the way in to the bottom of the chuck, and tighten it up.

I do this as well.

I used to try and turn the case with a drill myself, until I realised that it only takes two or three twists of the hand holding the steel wool to clean the neck, could clean 10 necks in the time it takes to fit one case in a chuck or whatever.

Not when you want to flash hole chamfer, trim to length, inside and out neck chamfer and polish cases all in one go.

Its easy with the Lee case holder to lock the case down off center and have case wobble.

The Sinclair neck turning case holder centers the case on the primer pocket as it tightens.

I use the Sinclair Case Holder with a gyroscopic screwdriver to clean my cases
It works really well if you wanna keep the carbon in your neck.

I do the total opposite. I have a cloth buffing wheel
touched up with rouge. Turn the wheel at a moderate
speed and just ring the case around by hand. Takes
just a few minutes to do a hundred. If the carbon is
thick, I'll swipe the necks with a q-tip soaked in "SLIP".
By the time you lined up the first 50 cases, the first
case is ready to just wipe off.

I use 0000 steel wool and twist the case a few times in a small pad of it while holding it in my hand. I then I wipe it off and dump it into the tumbler. But I only process 40 to 50 cases at a time.

Pre-cleaning the necks significantly cuts down the amount of time I need to tumble the cases to get them clean.

Was a toss up between the Sinclair and 21st Century, I chose the latter because of the o-ring feature and am thoroughly pleased with it. Felt it was a better bang for my bucks and I'm a Sinclair fan. ;)

Another vote for the Sinclair. I started with the Lee but switched to the Sinclair, no regrets.

@Homerange, I was looking at the Lee stuff, but as I need to buy the seperate parts I think it will be close to the cost of a K&M that comes with a case holder. Havent seen any Sinclair stuff local though that would be nice.
