COL with 75 VMax

loading up some 75 VMax and looking at Hornady data and they say to set COL at 2.160 and info on the 6br page lists it at 2.44.
I set a few at 2.44 and put in the chamber, when action closed it was tight and I opened it up and measured the round again and it was 2.30 so when closed it seated the bullet deeper.

What are your thoughts on this and what length should I go with.

I would buy Hornady's case overall length gauge and check for myself

Very easy. Seat bullet deeper until lands just put a tiny mark on the bullet. Now you have touch and can adjust seating depth with a positive reference. No purchases requires.
