8AD71B95-2A61-45CB-A038-3FBEA89683DB.jpeg I have been shooting the 6mm TCU in the Contender pistol for many years. It has taken game from coyotes to turkeys to whitetail deer. I have always been impressed with its accuracy and the variety of bullets that will shoot accurately out of the round. About 6 months ago, I decided to build a 6mm TCU rifle in a Remington 700 action with a Remage barrel from MGM. I ordered a 24” 8 twist heavy barrel from MGM. In the mean time, I ordered .223 Lapua brass and began setting up loads to try in the rifle once the barrel arrived. I have always had good luck using BL C-2 powder in this round so that was my first load testing once the barrel arrived and the rifle was built. I was not impressed with the accuracy shooting 95 gr. Berger VLD target and 95 gr. Berger VLD hunting bullets. I worked thru a number of powders and finally tried H4895. That proved to be the magic powder. I am now shooting a 95 gr. Berger VLD target bullet over 26.6 gr. of H4895 in a fire formed Lapua case with a CCI BR4 primer and getting 2853 fps with an SD of 5.6. The load consistently shoots under 1/2 MOA out to 300 yds. I think this round is completely up to the level of the 6mm BR. In a custom benchrest rifle, the round is probably capable of shooting in the 2’s. Just thought I would share my outcome on a round that seems to have mostly disappeared. Thanks28D25709-F475-4C0E-BF05-B6DA5E329FEC.jpeg.
I shot this target today at 300 yds. In a 12 mph wind at about 2 o’clock. First 4 shots were good and then I got excited about the group and pulled the last one high left. Murphy’s Law. The center dot is a 2” circle.

I built one on a Savage action and a 9 twist barrel. Use it for prairie dogs. Mine shoots 80 grain Noslers and LT-32. Although it was not built as a bench rest gun, I am very pleased with the efficiency of the little cartridge. Get right at 3,000 fps with it.

Thanks for sharing. Love the small high efficiency rounds. My magnumitis is far behind me so posts like this make me smile. Keep up the good work.

My good friend, teacher and mentor and I assembled a 6TCU rifle on and XP100 action last year. I have fooled with the cartridge in a pistol for years. The bolt gun puts it into another place.
I preferred to stay at 80 grain and under. It has shot exceptionally well out around 300.

For a varmint load try 60 to 70 grain bullets with LOTS of 748. Very fast and scary accurate.

Have you tried a 105?

How do you get 80 grains in that little case?

Is throated for the longer vld style projectiles? Nice looking rig and impressive group.

I have a 6/223AI remage it's a little hammer with AA2200 and 55gr for velocity. H322 shoots awesome with about every bullet I have tried in it though.
