.308 win 150 Sierra game king recipe ?

Looking for any home grown pet loads for my .308win using Sierra's 150 Game king (SBT). Factory Remington 700 with a 22" barrel. It started out as a varmint contour 26" from the factory but I recently shortened it to 22". Carries a 10 twist. I have lots of RE15 on hand, hint, hint ! Thanks in advance. John

My Lyman's 50th says between 41 and 46.2gr of Rx15 behind a 150 with MVs from 2521 to 2847. How hard do you want to push them?

I'd start at 45 and go up till you find a sweet spot. The 155SMK load for Palma shooters is about 46gr of Varget in Lapua Brass, and Rx15 runs pretty close on loads as I recall so I'd bet you find something that works in one range session.

If this is hunting 2700-2800 with that bullet will be good for hunting out to reasonable ranges. As I recall it expands well at lower velocities. I tried them out a long time ago and switched to 165s because the 165 pretty much duplicated my 175 target loads at midling type hunting ranges. At the time I didn't have dedicated target rifles.

My Rem 700 308 shoots very well with the 150 Sierra Pro Hunter bullet behind 4064, Varget, and / or H4895.

However I know a few shooters that love R15 in the 308 so it should work quite well. I would go to the published data, preferably Sierra, and start there working my way up.

I used to use the GK on top of 46gr IMR4064 to mimic my Nosler partition loads through my Browning BLR. Very accurate.

Reduce and work up... There was another node around 45 gr

Alliant powder data shows 49 max for speer 150. I would just load 4@47, 4@48, 4@49. Go shoot, look for pressure and accuracy. Done. No wasted components. 49 might be hard to fit, very full indeed.

Been doing some research on it and others saying 45-46 being best accuracy. Appreciate the info. I'll start low and work up. It's only gonna need to take a bullet maybe 100-150 yards in the deer woods this year. I'm set up close for my shot. Figuring maybe 2700+/- fps will be good as long as accuracy is there. Even at those ranges, 1 moa will work. I just don't seem to be able to settle on 1 moa. I'll be shooting for .5. Thanks for the info.

If I had enough Varget to load enough, I'd use it. Its been my "go to" .308 powder. Just can't find it. I have lots of RE15. Never ran it with 150s, only 185s. Accuracy will probably be better with Varget or H4895 but RE15 will have to work this year. Getting zeroed and set up this week. Hope to run them out to 500 for accuracy testing. Shots won't be that far in deer.

My buddy and I have killed a tractor trailer load of deer with 150 Game Kings with 43 to 44 grs IMR 4895 in virous 308 Win rifles. Bug hole accurate and deadly.

Might want to take a look at VV N-150 . Accidently came up with a "Palma load" that was 2,870 - 2,890 with a !%%SMK , 2156 . Drop the load down to around 41.8 and go up from there till you get where you want to go . My length was 2.240 BTO .
