220 russian to 6PPC steps please?

Hi, Sorry for all the questions...I just purchased my first 6ppc bench rest rifle and it has a 262 barrel, I have some brand new Lapua 220 russian brass and was hoping someone could walk me thru there steps to converting to 6ppc, I'd like to use the fireforming method. Thanks, Mike

Mike,
Straight from my gunsmith>> BETT
bump all the cases at the shoulder to the shortest one you find in your lot of brass.
expand using lots of lube!
trim all to the shortest case length you find
turn making sure that you just cut into the shoulder.
Suggest that you only use 220 Russian Lapua (on sale now).
Hope this helps
wang ( just got done doing 300 @ 0.0118...way fun)

There are multiple ways to do it. Which one seems to best fit your current situation?

Never forget you can have someone like DJs brass fully form and prep cases for you. Out of the box you’ll be focused on learning the cartridge and tuning the rifle. You can play around with fireforming and neck turning this winter.

The simplest way is fill them up to the shoulder neck area with clays powder and seal it of with modeling clay and fire them then turn the necks at 6mm..... jim

I would recommend working up with the Clay’s. It may not take all the way up to the neck.

Also, you can use stuff the neck with tissue paper. Works fine.

Last you can turn before or after firing. Read this thread and figure out which you prefer:http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/making-6ppc-from-lapua.4006166/#post-37787622

I tried many different ways but that was the simplest but better is expand the new first to get at Tighter fit in the chamber and fill it up to about the neck and top it off with modeling clay...... they form perfect, then turn.....I weigh the powder to get a perfect and consistent length with nice sharp shoulder ...... jim
