How to smoothly fire 5 shots in less than 10 seconds in a single shot BR rifle! By a 14 year old.

I took a couple of videos of my son shooting at Piedmont this weekend’s IBS 600 yard match. He shot a 1.0 then a 1.1 on the 1st two targets, then a 1.9 and a 2.1 on the next two. The difference in the two sets of groups was a difference in neck tension I am pretty sure now that it has happened 2 different times. On shooting technique, it took me years to develop, learning from the best shooters in the nation. Dave Tooley, Bill Shehan, Terry Brady, Joel Kendrick just to name a few back then. What took me years to put together, I taught Hunter in two, 30 minute cessions. I did have to help him in matches for a while with adjusting the scope. But now it is better if I sit back and keep my mouth shut or I will mess him up. He won HG group this month and won HG Overall last month. I am proud of him!
PS: Videos are not loading, I will try later tonight.

That brings to mind a comment by a law enforcement trainer and lifelong researcher of shooting incidents I saw in a video on shooting technique and self defense. "To all those that think you can multitask, YOU CAN'T". I once told the head of accounting where I worked when she asked it I couldn't multitask to fulfill her request that multitasking only meant I wasn't doing any SINGLE thing to the best of my ability. The best clays shooters promote "hard focus" on the target for that reason. Others may have different opinions.

That brings to mind a comment my father and the older generation use to say: “What has that got to do with the price of tea in China”?
Anyway, I have tried to upload the videos multible times. Even shortened them to compress further. No success. My internet upload/download speeds are terrible out here in the country. I may contact Paul McMenamin and see if I can email them to him and get them posted.

That's amazing, I know how hard that is to do, I'm in my fourth season shooting @ 1000 yards. and the best I have been able to do is ten shots in 40 seconds if I try to go faster I loose my smoothness. Maybe I'll have to come down your way some time and let your son give me a few lessons. Old dogs still try and learn new tricks.;) I do know Hunter has a great mentor, congrats Sam.

I don't know if you can upload videos directly to the site. You might post them to YouTube and then post a link here.

SHall My favorite is " I wouldn`t do that for all the tea in Chinee". Jeff

Seems to be a problem with old and young. Have them focus on their target. Repeatedly is crucial, it’s not a game and 99% of the times they would have done better if they felt they were not. Focus on the the target and shooting of the gun. Trust your gunsmith and let everything fall in to place.
