Rem 700 stock ?

I have an early (older) Remington Model 700 ADL s/a walnut stock that has the 4 screw butt plate. I am curious as to why it does NOT have sling swivel stud holes. Did the early Model 700's come without sling stud holes drilled ?

You are correct. The adl's of that era came w/o swivel studs.
Installed hundreds of those.

Great info , now I know why the holes are so off-center in my old ADL . I was wondering how Remington could let that gun out of Ilion with those crooked studs .

Yup, saw a lot of hack jobs that should NOT have been attempted.

HS Precision , I'm not sure if the Rem 700P is a ADL or a BDL , has a aluminum bedding block , is a very solid stock .
