Neck turning

If a chamber is cut with a tight neck, how is one supposed to turn after fire forming?
If there is a donut, they tend to move to the inside after firing, and have to be rolled to the outside or reamed.

Unless you C.O.W fire-form, or hydro-form, turn NEW brass.
Most of the time it's best to turn new brass anyway. Better mandrel fit, and easier to deal with donut area.

Only reason I asked is I have seen mention of turning after fire forming. They must be just making a skim cut taking high spots off.

after fire forming, what die do you use to size the neck to the shoulder? Do you use the same neck turner setup?
Ken
Actually i use a neck turner set up for the final fireformed case/shoulder so like for turning dasher cases it looks real funny on a 6br case turned that way but when they blow out theyre perfect. I use custom fl bushing dies on cases that it matters. They size to the shoulder just fine

Same setting. Stays the same for years. It blows the shoulders out perfect

I do the same as Dusty I have a multitude of turners once set I leave them! You would be surprised how much they take off on the second firing even though they were clean the first time! As Dusty said 6br to brx bra dasher or whatever wildcat you have off that case it looks odd but when you fire it if your measurements were correct it’s perfect!

I have a couple wildcats that I necked down from 6.5. I skimmed necks on both at the 22 cal stage. One got necked down further to 20 cal. Both were then neck turned after fireforming. Lapua brass.
