In 2013 on a Dall sheep hunt in Alaska, I was fortunate to shoot five wolves over two days of the trip. Two females one morning, and then two males and a juvenile male a couple days later. The alpha male was collared by USFW 9 years previous in Denali National Park. The pack had moved out of the park that season and moved into my outfitters hunting area. Bad idea for the wolves!
I had planned to mount the four adults life size until my then taxidermist told me the price. I then decided to just hang the hides on hooks for decoration. Fast forward a few years and my new taxidermist told me he had an idea to do a project with a pack of wolves to show the social structure of a pack. I explained that I wasn't interested in a $10,000 project as was quoted by the previous taxidermist. This taxidermist is truly an artist and the work he did on my African lion is breathtaking. Here is the four wolves. We are working on finding a young caribou or young Dall sheep to be the victim the wolves are fighting over. The taxidermist ran out room in his shop so he delivered the wolves to me.
I hope everyone enjoys!
