More load data with H4895 in the 6mm Dasher

Someone should do a direct comparison between h4895, AR Comp, and Imr 8208 because I think they are virtually identical velocity to charge weight in nearly all these 6mm cartridges.
I find Imr 8208 easier to meter. Bigger issue for me is temp insensitivity between 8208 and 4895. Also, H4895 speed seems to vary 8pound lot to lot, significantly. I like them both as they shoot small at 300 Yards in a 6 Brdx. But our range temps go 45 to 90 degrees plus over the season. Tuning and retuning can be a conundrum.

Which is more temp sensitive?

James, I never found it to be that dirty. It responded well to normal cleaning methods and I never lost accuracy in a match due to fouling. I dont know why your experiencing that. It could be your lot? I assume your running it at a reasonable pressure?

It is very dirty. Evidently, my lot has quite a bit of coating and it leaves a BLACK soot after only a few rounds. I have loaded up to 32.8 grains behind a 105 gr. Bart's bullet and behind a 105 Hybrid. I have used only 205M and CCI 400 primers....both fouled terribly. I am now using XBR and H4895 powder and neither show much fouling. Thanks, James

Some powders with the anti fouling agents are very black on patches. RL16 is that way. But it doesnt bother me, I just clean them.

Two questions about RL15: How many rounds before accuracy starts to fall off, and does its dirtiness correspond to a tendency to form hard carbon deposits? One more, how hard is the black to get out?

I haven't shot enough with Re15 in the Dasher to properly answer all of the questions you pose. I thoroughly clean and use a brush to get the carbon ring after each session....so I haven't seen the formation of the hard ring. The accuracy seems to fall off after about 25 rounds. I currently have my BRA barrel on, but I will give the Re15/Dasher another shot soon. Thanks, James

I shot a lot of RL-15 and never found it dirty but I was on the top end with 450's. If I remember right lower loads seemed dirty, high end seemed clean. Now Varget is dirty... jim

I can’t make a definitive statement on that yet. Neither stands out as “more” sensitive to temp change.
Can't remember where I found this information, nor the methodology used to determine the data, but it may be helpful if one takes the information with a grain of salt.

Also can't remember the difference between the left and right columns. Maybe different temperature regimes?

Couldn't remember my name this morning either. Old age has it's issues.
