10mm Carbine

I eventually bought a 9mm PSA set up for Glock magazines. I wish I would have got the CMMG in 45 acp that I wanted. I got the 9mm cause everyone said that the 45s were problematic. I have no idea if that is true, but the 9mm is not what I was looking for. The 10 mm sounds even closer to the right direction. I was looking for some thing to shoot 100yds accurately and be able to eventually go (already threaded barrel) suppressed. There may be ammo that will let me do that with the 9mm but I haven't found it yet.

I was going to get a longer barrel for my 10mm pistol to shoot out to 100yds. But the CMMG is all ready there seems like a well thought out system. I will look into suppressed.

I'm a huge 10mm fan so I've looked into all the PC carbines (I have an AR9 and love it). IMHO CMMG has the best (and most expensive) mousetrap with Macon Armory a respectable second. I wouldn't consider other direct blowback options, the 10mm is just too much. If you are familiar with the differences in weight and springing of 9mm vs 10mm pistols, and have held a blowback 9mm bolt carrier and buffer, you'd get it.

I wondered about that with the pressure of the 10mm and the radial bolt release. It has been on the market for a while now and I find no bad information on it. I am sure keeping it clean will give the system some longevity.

After building one with the ATF's permission, I would certainly go the SBR route. It's nice to have a compact package and a real collapsible stock to go with it.

I’ve had experience with the cmmg 10mm banshee.
One of my customers bought one shot it at a indoor range and was able to collect the brass.
It’s hard to describe the condition of the brass but after resizing them and cleaning them I still wouldn’t load them.
I threw them in the trash.
Anthony asked cmmg about it and their response was there wasn’t anything wrong and not to reload for it.
He sold it after less than a hundred rds shot.

Hhhmmmm.......I would need more information to comment but I check all my pistol rounds with a case gauge. Sounds like I missed a deal on a CMMG Mk10. JMHO

I am not AR build savvy and dont plan to be. So the purpose built CMMG appeals to me.

Doc what ammo do you use ????? Several have told me that maybe 148-150 grain ammo is the right direction to go. I bought the 9mm cause I didn't want to have another caliber to reload for, but if reloading will make this gun shoot that is what I will do. I remember there being machine gun ammo years ago that was too much for handguns, perhaps this is what the PSA is looking for.

I built a SBR in 300, just because I could I suppose and I've built a number of rifles and one 45 acp. The one thing I learned is that it is actually challenging to make them light weight. I am amazed how heavy my 45 acp is because of the size of the bolt. When you actually hold one in your hand, that's when it really hits you. The DI from Macon Armory is very interesting because of weight, but if I am seeing the right prices, his upper alone is $925 and CMMG is $100 less. Then you could by a complete pistol lower for instance - https://www.newfrontierarmory.com/product/complete-c-45-pistol-lower-shockwave-pistol-brace/ -$311 and immediately be in business by pushing two pins in to clip them together.

If you build a SBR yourself (which also can be done by purchasing a compete upper and lower), the ATF Form 1's have a pretty quick return. I did one, and if I can anyone can. If CMMG's SBR is sold on a Form 4, which I suppose it is, then the wait could be 6 months or more. I would definitely put a phone call into CMMG if I was going to go the SBR route to see what current timelines are. As far as shooting one - my SBR is much more fun due to using a stock and not an adapted brace.

Or you could buy the pistol and shoot it while you apply and wait on a Form 1 from the ATF.

The Mech Tech is cool but I like the purpose built CMMG and I dont wish to sacrifice my pistol to support a carbine. My goal is to have both. The carbine platform is more stable (for me) for longer shots. My older eyes dont help for longer pistol shots and this was my intention with purchasing and reloading the 10mm.
