6.5x47 with 140’s accuracy nodes?

I’m seeking some advice from any of the long range Benchrest shooters that’s shooting a 6.5x47 and 140 hybrids.
My main question what is the accuracy node I need to look for?

I shot my new barrel today with 140’s at 1k and what shot great this morning didn’t do so hot this afternoon late. I recorded my velocities this evening where as I didn’t this morning.
I was running from 2804-2836 FPS shooting 40.0-40.4 grains H 4350

my barrel has now exactly 128 rounds down it so I’m pretty sure it sped up as this am I shot 3 across the chronograph to get a velocity so I knew how much to go up and 40.0 was 2770 FPS so it increased 34 FPS but also temps were 15* warmer also but I doubt enough to take up the entire 34 FPS.

groups were right about 4.5” on a avg this evening for 4 shots

I shoot the 140 Berger Long Range Target at 2780 out of my 28 inch Krieger 4 grove with 36.7 of Varget and It shoot's
well at Midrange. Its also a brand new barrel with under 200 rounds....just need a match to shoot and break it in.
dang..covid crap.

James, I have 2--- 6.5 x 47 benchrest rifles....one is a brux and one Bartlein (also had Kreigers), both shoot 140 hyb at 2750-2760 node which is the most accurate for me from 28 inch barrels. The higher node is 2830-2840 but not quite as accurate. I only shoot 5 shot groups at our matches. I use H4350 as well and can shoot at 70* or 100* and will not see over 6-8 fps variation. Day in day out will shoot .25---.30 moa!
Hope this helps

I’m shooting a Brux 8 twist at 30” so I’m gonna have to back back off and work up from around 39.0 up to 39.8 oh H4350
Yesterday evening 39.8 yielded 2804 FPS

Yes sir, I'm running 39.4 for 2760 and 40.5 for 2830 range. Bartlein barrel shoots slightly better. These loads have been good to me!
450 primer and .003 jump

Hi James, for several months I have been reading through the forums regarding 6.5x47 loads. The bulk of the nice groups I’ve seen with 140s/142s have had MVs around 2730-2750fps some with Varget some with 4350. Seems like 39.2ish of 4350 and 36.5 of Varget. I hope this helps.

I have your exact setup with a 0.167 freebore and I’m jammed 0.015”. My node is 39.8-40.1. I settled on 40.02 gr H4350. My velocity is 2800 on the number with an es of 6 fps. Insanely accurate and leaves you no room for excuses....lol. All setups are different though, this is mine. I shoot a Bat 3 lug action in a McMillan F class stock.

That's interesting - my 6.5 Creedmoor liked shooting the 147ELD in that range too, 2700-2750fps or 41 up to 41.7gns of RL-17. IMR4350 and H4831sc at the same speed worked well right there too.
