Ruger Precision Rimfire Accuracy Project

Just a note of caution with ER Shaw barrels. Not bashing them at all but be sure to check the twist when the barrel arrives. More than once I've received a different twist than what I ordered or what was stamped on the barrel.

As I said, I'm not bashing them, had some very accurate barrels from them but verify.

Thanks for that info.

Wonder why it called Ruger "Precision" Rimfire when it obvious there is not much Precision, in the as purchased condition. Not what I would call Precision after the barrel swap. I realize these are not high end target rifles, but when you use a word like "Precision" on a rifle, you would expect at least MOA and hopefully sub MOA with match grade ammo. :(

Mine had pretty good accuracy right out of the box. The problem I had was that it kept jamming the rounds as it tried to chamber. I could get around it by holding the mag up into the well tighter with my hand.
I ended up sending it back to Ruger and they made some modifications, replace the action and sent it back. Works great now. I put my Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50mm scope on it. At 220 yards, I am able to hold a 4" pattern with all rounds, wind calm. For a factory production rifle at this price, that is pretty good. Not a VuDoo V22 but I could buy almost three Rugers for the price of one V22.
Overall, it is a pretty good shooter for the price.

It’s a match chamber thing. Really no different than jamming rounds in a centerfire. Just don’t close the bolt unless you intend to fire the round. No big deal.....
By Polishing and Lapping, my NEW Green Mtn barreled, Bentz chambered, 10-22 Ruger with, JB's, slathered on, a patch over, a Bronze Brush, THAT, "Problem" is, GONE and I now have, SUPER accuracy and flawless "Functioning" to, boot ! Just, 10-12 smooth, ONE WAY, "Strokes" thru barrel, a good cleaning and then, a "Break in" period with, SK Match ammo.

After our monthly 22lr benchrest match we have a 22lr fun gun match. Has to be mag fed . Thats why I built my ruger precision. Won it first match

Not being able to extract a chambered round from a match barrel is quite normal. The true match chamber will have the bullet engraved in the rifling and it usually will not come out unless pried or pushed with a rod.
Further, if a carbon ring (yes, the dreaded carbon ring) is allowed to form the problem is worse.
You .22 shooters ARE inspecting for the carbon ring aren't you?

anyone know what chamber spec the GM barrel uses?
They use, the Bentz Chamber, and it lightly engraves, the Bullets "Bearing surf" area with, Rifling Marks.
I polished my chambers "Throat area", a Tad ( LIGHTLY ! ) with, some JB's, to allow Ammo, to be Extracted "Live" out of, the Chamber,.. see Post # 46. My 20" Green Mtn., Sporter barrel, shoots,.. Fantastic !
A little, "polishing" and breaking, the "Edge" of, the sharp Rifling, gets IT,.. done !

FWIW, our 2 Cooper .22s occasionally won't extract an unfired round either. Shoot bugholes though. Admit I haven't tried target ammo, as we're going for minute-of-gopher.

this is my stock RPR-RF with SK Long range match at 50y
right now, i think it needs a better trigger if anything... removing / changing the trigger spring is still a crappy trigger

This might be a little off subject, and if so I apologize.
Who makes an accurate barrel for a Ruger 77/22~? How much head space should I be looking for~?
To all who respond, I thank you~!
