I was rushed, getting ready for a 400 yard "deer shoot" the other weekend.
Planned rifle was my custom Mauser in 284 Win.
Even though in hunter class, max power allowed to use is 10 power, i was mounting my 4-20X50 Sightron STAC on the night before. Just had to keep it at 10 power, but figured the 50mm objective & 30mm tube would help.
Got to range & went to sight in. Felt rushed. Began by forgetting to dial scope for 400 yards.
Then rifle wouldn't hold consistancy. Shooting all over the place.
I ended up not shooting the match.
Last night put new stock on my wifes rifle, and decided to put the STAC on it.
When i went to loosen the rings from the base i discovered they were already loose.
In my rush, i forgot to tighten the rings to the base. They were just finger snug.
Lesson, dont rush things the night before a match!
