6XC- looking for good groundhog bullet? Ideas?

I don’t like shooting match bullets and I have a 1:8 twist. None of the Berger’s seem to match up. I’m not familiar with any others but I rule out pure target bullets because of ricochet ....I can shoot them out to 500yds or so....

Yep, I spend 30 mins on the Berger’s..they don’t have the larger ones on their Ballistic cal yet..twist is my concern...FB bullets don’t do well at 400 yds but they are Berger’s:)

If I could find an expanding BULLET between 105-115 gr, that should be it...HBBT also, the Berger hybrids are great but I don’t want to have to mess with adjusting the VLDs off the lands...

Hornady's, 87 V-Max shoot good ( usually, sub 1/2 MOA ) for me, in a .243 Win. 1-10 Twist Tikka @ 3,100 + FPS and are explosive on, Varmints at, reasonable cost ! Berger's 87 grain HVLD Bullets, are even better, accuracy, wise, shooting tiny Clover Leaf's in, the 2's and 3's, but not, cheap ! Neither ricochet at, 3,100+ FPS,.. NOR are, Fur friendly ! Like BRguy said above, the Sierra, 85 grain BTHP's are great, also !
And practically, NO, recoil, on any of these 3 ! Am loading to, SAMMI COAL so they ARE, "Jumping", in my Tikka !

The Hornady 75 gr Vmax or Sierra 85gr HPBT will work great in a 6xc on Chuck's or coyotes.JME. WD

Some good ideas here....just don’t like match bullets that go straight through a hog, hit a rock and ricochet off into the side of a cow 100 yds away:)

I use 75gr Hornady Vmax with Varget in my 6xc with 1:8 when shooting hares and rabbits and they pose virtually no ricochet risk. When they hit anything they just disintegrate. I get 3300fps and fine accuracy. I was concerned about jackets fracturing in a 1:8 twist but I have never had it happen. Just for fun I tried some 58gr Vmax and they just didn't hold a decent group. I shoot a lot of feral cats here in Queensland and the 75 Vmax really takes them apart. My match ammo loaded with 107 SMK or 105 RDF were prone to ricochet and generally punched pencil sized holes through animals.

I have had great luck with 70gr Sierra BTHP's, and 40gr Varget, never had a chuck or yote move when hit with them. I also shot some 60Sierras with great results, out to 400 yds.
